Post suggestions and recommendations for sidearms that shreds efficiently enemies shields.

I suggest these for their accuracy when blind firing in cover and they are light.

Good for snipers or shotgunners. Tacticians and power users.

For Bronze & Silver

Shuriken (Clip size and Barrel / HVB) <-Works well on Elites You will love ths sounds when it lands on shields

Arc Pistol rapid fire seems effective

Tempest has a long clip, you can spray in the distance and weaken incoming Pyros/Hunters for example.

N7 Eagle very good RoF and dmg

For Gold

Hornet (Clip size or Stability and Barrel/HVB) <- Works well on slowpoke Atlas and Geth Prime(and his drone/turret friends) Click fast.

N7 Eagle (Clip/HB) Level VII + and a good class level, and 22.5% + Weapon Dmg Passive

TchOktChoky said Talon, probably Clip/Barrel, weapon isn't heavy and makes wide shots

OniGanon & Baby Quarian say Executioner Pistol: they probably refer to the quick swap after firing, whitout reloading. Counter Strike style. Bam/Switch/Boom. A good way to prime your enemy Caution: This one is heavy, plan a Rank6 Heavy Pistols -20/25%

Acolyte, use with moderation to prevent the "killed while charging/missed the shot on Mr. Dauctaur Shields" Syndrome

ROBOTICSUPERMAN suggested the great M-11 Suppressor, a great way to work on the shields/barriers.

Miniditka77 OniGanon JPN17

suggests Hurricane (Clip or stability/HB or HVB) Caution: It's heavy and you should  aim(right-click) while firing

on the good side, you can hit 2+ enemies(drones, swarms, etc.)

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

Close range -> Talon

Close/Medium Range ->N7 Eagle (Clip/HB) You can pause between shots and take down half atlas shields with one clip.

Close to Long Range -> Acolyte

Medium to Long Range -> Shuriken because if target moves too much, you wont be able to aim at all.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

EDIT (Explanation) SMG or Pistol Challenges, there's a lot of weapons to use and challenges to complete. Sometimes, we don't have a power or a main weapon that takes cares of the shields properly. I find it very enjoyable to play methodically sometimes and swap weapons to vary the strategies.

I saw cover, and stopped right there.

And I'm not being a buttwad. When I was in cover, and discovered you could blindfire....  I was offended.  Been playing the game way too long at that point to finally discover this.

Acolyte is a charged weapon. Overused and boring since it's too good at it.

When people use a Sniper with the perk Sniper/SMG +12% each they want to bring an SMG sidearm. Would you recommend Collector SMG ?

I would recommend Phasic or Disruptor ammo and not care about a secondary with a sniper.

And even if it is a charged, overused, and boring weapon there is nothing lighter that does it better. Then again, I barely use it at all since I don't care to switch weapons just for shields since most primary weapons can deal with them just fine.

Why would I switch to a Hornet (or any other standard gun) when I will strip the shields faster with my main and more powerful gun?

Boring as it may be, the Acolyte is the only shield stripper that's actually worth using for that role because it's the only one that will actually make the process of switching guns for said task worth it.

Now if SMGs in general had shield damage modifiers or if we could equip both our weapons with separate ammos(that'd be awesome), then it would be worth it.

As it is though, nah.

Acolyte, Talon!

Thanks for the idea of a widespread shot that can affect 2-3 enemies. Talon sounds good.

"M-358 Talon Pistol (Armor=100%, Barrier=150%, Shields=150%)"

I don't know the other small weapons stats.

The only two guns in the game that get a damage bonus to shields/barriers that can be considered sidearms are the Talon and Acolyte. A high dps gun like the hurricane could work well, but on the whole I really don't see the point. Guns aren't specialized enough to deal with particular defenses like they were in ME2.

I would recommend Tempest with Clip Size + HB or HVB. Silver speaking.

For Gold, Hurricane would be an option but I find it too heavy. So Tempest you can spray fire in the distance to stop Barrier regen or lower down their Barrier so then you can close in with a Katana/Scimitar shotty and blow the enemie's armor too finish him or damage him heavily.

All this in a fashionable and classy way. (No cluster nades involved)

Rate of fire man. And accuracy increase while blind firing in cover.

It does wonders man, trust me.

Even CQC. Spray and then Heavy Melee for example.

I love the sound too. Frout frout frout frout frout!

Sidearm?  ;)

If only a Geth Juggernaut could equip the miniaturized version wielded by the Volus, that somehow maintains all the formidable properties of the original.  :D

Rate of fire means nothing if it takes forever to get rid of shields.

On PC, more pellets lands on the enemy since with a mouse it's easier to adjust to recoil.

I understand it's not a weapon of choice on console.

How long does it take you to get rid of the shields on a gold Atlas this way? I'm trying to understand your definition of "shield shredding".

Interesting. But I shouldn't do that for shields too. Shields should be shredded with your previous advice.

To be honest, you don't really need a sidearm specifically for taking out shields. Defences aren't what they were in Mass Effect 2, so all you need is to be good against for weapons is armour and you're good against everything.

I agree that for bosses, it doesn't rip Shields or Barriers quickly.

I would like to clear out that it's

to save up Main weapon ammo on a regenerating part of health of an enemy,

a back up weapon if your Main weap ammo's out to kill a Centurion or Rocket Trooper quick,

a tease dmg to half of a bosses Shield or 3 quarters, to get passed his Shield Gate,

a Phasic Rounds replacement sort of, just time costly

an extra weapon to dedicate, a shield removal weapon aside your main weap for piercing damage.

1st and foremost I want to promote the uncommon weapons to enhance challenge/fun and share tips on how to achieve the SMG/Pistols challenges in the long run. It pushes us to use cover to swap weapons I know, but I find it cool. Just like in SP.
