I agree that for bosses, it doesn't rip Shields or Barriers quickly.

I would like to clear out that it's

to save up Main weapon ammo on a regenerating part of health of an enemy,

a back up weapon if your Main weap ammo's out to kill a Centurion or Rocket Trooper quick,

a tease dmg to half of a bosses Shield or 3 quarters, to get passed his Shield Gate,

a Phasic Rounds replacement sort of, just time costly

an extra weapon to dedicate, a shield removal weapon aside your main weap for piercing damage.

1st and foremost I want to promote the uncommon weapons to enhance challenge/fun and share tips on how to achieve the SMG/Pistols challenges in the long run. It pushes us to use cover to swap weapons I know, but I find it cool. Just like in SP.

No offense, but the thread is ridiculous. Everything about it.

Acolyte, Talon, Hurricane. For infantry, also Executioner and Arc Pistol.

Pretty much talon and acolyte. That's it. Talon is a pocket shotgun which is awesome, and the acolyte is just a shield shredder in itself cause of the insane bonus it gets vs barriers/shields.

On a more serious note, you don't really need a sidearm for most stuff. Get a good weapon that can dunk armor and it'll end up doing the same to any shielded enemy. As far as weapons that specifically dunk shields, then it's Acolyte and Reegar in terms of weapon only; no ammo mods.

Acolyte is the only sidearm that you should switch when you get to armor.

The rest of the list? Just keep on shooting.

I suggest these for their accuracy when blind firing in cover and they are light.

Good for snipers or shotgunners. Tacticians and power users.

Hornet (Clip size or Stability and Barrel/HVB) <- Works well on slowpoke Atlas and Geth Prime(and his drone/turret friends)

GTK. I knew that my QFI missed something.

I'm going to suggest suppressor, not that I use it like that. But probably 1 or 2 headshots should wipe out mook shields.

I almost pissed my pants when I saw someone recommended the Shuriken.

The Acolyte and Talon are really the only "sidearm" shield shredders in the game. There are other weapons that have specific advantages versus shields IE Adas, Reegar but are too heavy to really be considered sidearms.

Not sure if trolling. But if not -

RHA > blind firing from cover.

If you're shooting at something it shouldn't live long enough for it's shield/barrier to regen.

I only ever carry one gun and shields have never been a problem. If you struggle with them take an Acolyte with Magazine and Ultra-light mods.

Talon is no sidearm! It can deal with everything so quickly there would be no reason to switch to your "primary" if you had it with you.

You don't use the Hornet for shield stripping. You use it to roleplay as Douchebag Dragoon

That's why I put sidearm in quotations.  ;) It's still probably the next best shield shredder for the weight other and the Acolyte.

If weapons use a universal thermal clip design, how can a primary weapon run out of ammo?

I used to not like the Arc pistol and but when I started using it charged....wow.

The real reason I responding is that I quite like Nate's avatar.

Arc Pistol is a true mans pistol. That yuck Acolyte is for the scrublords.

The devs pretty much gave up on the idea of ME guns not being the same as conventional FPS guns.

I mean they even use terms like Spare Ammo Capacity and Magazine Size, which make no sense in the ME setting.

Not a sidearm though! The Acolyte is the only one that quickly wipes shields and has a major weakness against armor.

I would recommend Phasic or Disruptor ammo and not care about a secondary with a sniper.

And even if it is a charged, overused, and boring weapon there is nothing lighter that does it better. Then again, I barely use it at all since I don't care to switch weapons just for shields since most primary weapons can deal with them just fine.

If I'm using a sniper rifle with an infiltrator, I usually bring a Hurricane as a sidearm, because why not?  It barely adds any weight.  Also, I like to play U/U/G, so sometimes I get dropped into Glacier, and being able to switch off the sniper rifle increases versatility on that map.

To each their own, I personally hate swapping weapons when I just want to quickly reload. I play nothing except U/U/G or U/U/P unless I am doing a challenge (Spectre challenges or the themed runs from Prestacious) and I find having a secondary rather pointless, unless my primary will cause me to struggles greatly against Phantoms as host.

I used to take a Hurricane as well, but I realized I never use it. Even on Glacier, it's perfectly fine to snipe, though you probably want to force spawns to the LZ more than the basement in my experience.
