You can't really argue that as he readily finds fault with merathari, its more Merrill is one of Lobs favorite characters and she will probably be canonized in the new dalish religion he wishes to start.

Nothing wrong with that, we all have our favorites.

Oh please, you didn't even try to counter the logic I used to prove how you either backtrack or just only read other people's posts when it suits you. And that is because you know I am right and it's better to try to move the argument away from it.

Oh, and you attacked me first.

I proved Jedi's original objection to my post incorrect. You then jump in and start going about 'throwing pieces off the board' and 'interpretation' all the while having not a thing even supporting such statements.

You knew that I was correct and hid behind 'interpretation' despite Bethany word of mouth telling you that you're wrong. You then proceed to soil your trousers over the very notion that you are incorrect.

And no I didn't. You can take that for what you will. I'd be much more direct if I were attacking you.

No what's annoying is you thinking Merrill is infallible because she's an elf, and that Hawke can't have bloody common sense and be against Merrill delving in demons and messing with dangerous magical objects because you take umbrage at a human daring to question an elf.

You seem to be taking this quite personally. I take issue with Hawke telling someone she's wrong about an artifact that he knows nothing about. Hawke knows enough about the taint from first hand experience to see that Merrill isn't tainted.

Also, Marethari makes it abundantly clear she's poisoned the clan against her in a bid to get her to abandon her research and return to the Sabrae clan, which is the crux of their argument.

It's just what a lot of his posts sound like to me.

Hey could be worst. Could be a geth/quarian thread. good lord the same 2 people arguing for 40 pages...

Also, Marethari makes it abundantly clear she's poisoned the clan against her

How so? remember even in Act 1 the clan is pretty much "Can't wait til she GTFOs and you made your choice Merrill" so they were pretty much beat it from the start. Now I don't doubt that malice grew the longer they stayed near Kirkwall and had to deal with people bothering them because Marethari wanted to stop Merrill from releasing Audacity (whether she was right or wrong is irrelevant for this discussion) but that malice is pretty much there from the beginning. Merrill even says she never had any friends and most of the clan stayed away from her. I can easily see they just tolerated her at first and once she turned to BM that fragile tolerance level was broken.

Except even ELVES are against what Merrill's doing so you can't even argue it's the trope. Hell the only elf that's pro what Merrill is doing is Merrill! Her whole clan was against it!

You're making something into a race issue when that's not even remotely the problem.

Her clan is against it because Marethari is against it, and she wants Merrill to give up her efforts and return to the clan.

Because between the transparency of Marethari wanting Merrill to return to the Sabrae clan and Hawke's complete and utter ignorance about the Eluvian, he's telling her she's wrong to pursue the reconstruction of an object he knows absolutely nothing about.

Merrill, on the other hand, has studied the lore on the Eluvians and extrapolated additional information from the cleansed shard. Having a human in ignorance tell an informed elf that she's wrong about elven technology that he literally knows nothing about comes across as that trope.

I already responded to that in my next post.

Also assuming the clan can't think for themselves Lob? Really?

No He's telling her she's wrong to persude the reconstruction of an object he knows nothing about using bloodmagic learned from a demon in the middle of a crowded city. Merrill doesn't know what the damn thing will do once activated either so let's not pretend Hawke's the only one working in ignorance.

She has bits of lore and is working with guesswork. Let's not act like she knows everything there is to know about eluvian's. She doesn't even know how to activate the thing or what it will do once activated. So yeah it's hardly "human knows better cause human" scenario especially when the majority of people against it are the same race as Merrill. It's far closer to a "using dangerous means with potentially dangerous technology isn't wise" which it isn't.

That's not saying it shouldn't be done. But a crowded city was not the place to do it.

The conversation where Marethari says she told everyone in the clan that Merrill's actions would bring back the taint was my point.

Again that doesn't change what she told you of how they treated her before she even learned bloodmagic. They weren't fond of her to begin with.

As for what the Eluvian would do once activated...we have no idea what it would've done. Maybe it would've been harmless maybe it would've lead somewhere it shouldn't.

?? There was nothing snide or offensive in my comment? Just stating that Merrill is one of your favorite characters? You yourself have stated that you hope Merrill is regarded as a dalish hero for the eluvian.

Sorry I defended you from someone thinking your defense of Merrill was just because you think elves are perfect, which I credit you with having more sense to your reasoning.
