But yeah, that's like saying anyone who is Anti-Orlais is immediately Pro-Mage.

Pretty much.

So because a couple Pro-Templar people think that way, you think all think that way? You shouldn't blanket statement an entire group for the views of a couple members.

This sounds familiar...

Not really, my Hawke took a walk and left Meredith and Orsino sitting on their haunches wanting to know who I would back.  That right there is how you fight the plot.

Is it because every faction does that to the opposing faction?

I said nothing of the kind. I know pro-templar players who don't make inflammatory comments or bait people into flame wars.

I'd actually recommend for you to heed your own advice.

If referring to the Dalish, so far the majority have not been kind to other races so that's not the same as using only a couple members.

I actually used the same argument in so far as empirical data in expressing distaste, it was brushed off in a similar manner.

By majority, you mean the few characters you use to condemn an entire society for, while ignoring the other examples that explicitly contradict this view?

You do realize you are doing the exact same thing right? You are defending them against those characters with you're own, and operating on the assumption that you're own preferred Dalish are the majority.

Actually, you were constantly saying the Dalish saw themselves as the "master race" and you kept using the term "klan" when people like Faerunner asked you to stop. This kind of behavior is going to elicit much in serious discussion.

No, actually i pointed out that numeric majority by the point of DA 2 would indicate most Dalish are hostile isolationists, go check you're own thread if you need a refresher.

No, I mean the majority of the clan members we've met which treated my non-Dalish characters with at best veiled distaste. As I said, so far they are shown to be predominantly xenophobic in their belied that "once the humans go away, we'll be immortal again." You can't tell me the majority of them are accepting of humans in their area.

It's times like this I know you don't bother reading anything I read. I've constantly pointed out that all the clans are different, and that the behavior of some shouldn't condemn them all because there are entire clans who operate under a different frame of mind. As Gaider pointed out at the defunct Dragon Central board:

The Dalish have the Gathering every 10 years, where all the clans are supposed to gather and the Keepers of each clan share their knowledge with each other. This is also where Dalish-wide issues are dealt with, and ideally the Gathering is supposed to keep the Dalish roughly in step with each other. In practice, though, you are correct. Each clan tends to go the way that its Keeper dictates. Some clans are very militant, almost xenophobic. Some are little more than bandits in whatever wilderness they've staked out (this is often the case in Tevinter, for instance). A few are quite benevolent and live in peace with nearby humans -- the Rivaini city of Llomerryn is known to have a semi-permanent Dalish encampment on its outskirts, and trade with the elves for their crafts is encouraged.

My point was been that the Dalish clans are different and varied from one another.

Question, Lob, because I expect you of all people will know chapter and verse, and I'm not really feeling up to fighting the internet today;

Is the Aveline thing definite historical fact with citations, or is it part of the Aveline story we just assume is true because there was a historical Aveline we can point at?

And i am maintaining that by DA 2 the majority presented were...need i repeat myself?

Hostile Isolationists.

Be that overall majority or no, it doesn't detract from my point.

The Dalish are wary of outsiders because outsiders have been a threat to them for centuries. This was brought up when a comparison to Sephardic Jews was made about the Dalish, with Gaider saying:

They were still living as part of the societies they migrated to, however. The Dalish do not. At best they'll camp too near some human settlement and eventually the local ruler will drive them out, or they will leave voluntarily before things get too tense, but for the most part the Dalish live entirely seperated from human society.

Merrill also points out that part of the reason behind their nomadic lifestyle is that templars pursue the clans, and Ariane defended her clan from a templar who threatened them. There's also the issue with the elven religion being criminalized in Andrastian lands, effectively making them outlaws.

The codex on Aveline the Knight is a story from Lord Francois Maigny. Apparently, Aveline's sword (that was used in the tournament) was made from ironbark by the Dalish clan who found her and raised her as one of their own. It read that she was larger and stronger than anyone in the clan, men and women included. Her clan is also credited with forging armor so she could disguise herself as a man, since women were prohibited from competing at this period in time.

I wouldn't blame the philosophy of The Way of Three Trees on how that specific clan chose to interpret it.

That is true, yes. However, it's the only time we've seen it used to deal with humans, so I'll be on alert until we have more lore.

We don't know much about the different ways, that's true. At least the preview implies that they aren't just guides to perform a job.

i headcanon my mage threw his hands up and freaking hitchhiked back to Fereldan. It may have smelled of wet dog but sanity wasn't in damn short supply.
