Thanks. I think I let my anger at having to play Dalish if I want to be an elf, so the bias of me going "Stupid Dalish" while posting I guess made it seem aggressive.

Don't worry I share your pain. I'm over here weeping bitterly at what could've been. Badass CE rise to power no more :(

What would be the point of making it all up though?

Uh to tell a good tale?

So much for having the position to make a sustainable elven state...having an independent third party headed by an agreeable elf would have done wonders on that front.

How would anyone look into the life of a woman no one knew, that was born to a nameless farmer in some nameless plot of land and was taken in by a group of people that avoid all contact with humans?

By sending someone to speak to the Dalish clan, who knew about the tournament and are implied to have has prior contact with humans, and then speaking with people in the area where she was found by the clan to find out why she had been abandoned. She was posthumously knighted by Emperor Freyan of Orlais, so I don't see why he wouldn't have looked into it.

I would love if it was a troll move by the Dalish.

Human: "Excuse me, Mr. Keeper."

Keeper: "Yes, what is it?"

H: "Is it true you trained Ser Aveline, the woman who bested our greatest warriors in the tournament."

K: "...yes. Yes we were."

*Hugs CE rogue close* Least you can show those dalish how it's done. Even if you're going on your calling soon :(

Don't worry about it. I was in your shoes during Dragon Age II, so I understand the frustration.

If the tale is to be believed, Aveline left the clan and went directly to the tournament where she kept her helmet on at all times. Once unmasked, she was killed.

Why would anyone assume a Dalish clan was involved at all? I'll answer for you, she had an ironbark sword.

However, even if they realized this and associated it with the Dalish, how would they have found the right clan?

I don't see much reason for the Emperor of Orlais to make up Aveline's history; he was a Prince who fought her and lost, and then decided to honor her by knighting her and striking down a sexist law.

It's not like Gaider didn't already address that some Dalish clans regularly interact with humans, after all.

It's not "making it all up", people. It's as simple as some bard deciding to put Aveline into song, deciding to embellish it a little bit by adding abandonment and Dalish elves, the song becoming famous and the whole thing becoming more proeminent in the people's minds than what really happened.

Or they knew about her adoptive parents being Dalish because her body was taken by her parents. The Dalish bury their dead and plant a tree; it's likely this was also done for Aveline by her adoptive parents.

But why would anyone want to play an elf in the first place? It's a downgrade either way one looks at it.

Oh I know lol. I actually don't plan on doing a Dalish mage run till my last one. I have male Human and Qunari mages to run through first, and then Human and Qunari warriors. And then, if I'm stil hungry for more, I'll run a Dalish mage.

City elves live in the Dales; they outnumber the humans, apparently. I don't see why those elves and the Dalish clans couldn't work together to emancipate the kingdom so it can be independent again.

Are you suggesting the elves just came in, demanded the body of a national hero to be buried under elven customs and the orlesians not only believed them but also allowed it?

You realize she became a national hero after the Prince who attended the tournament became Emperor of Orlais, right? Over how disgraceful it was that she was murdered because she was a woman who competed illegally in the tournament?

Weren't they all?

City elf warrior didn't make much sense to me. I mean it's possible but the whole living in squalor and being forbidden weapons suits the rogue playstyle much more. Much easier to hide daggers than a long sword and shield.

My CEs care about as much as the dales and the dalish as they do a wart on Loghain's backside. They care more about having equal rights than any ousting of humans from lands.

And I'm not saying they can't work together.

Still i find it hard to believe her remains would be turned over to the Dalish, Patron of female Knights of Orlais or not, The Prince likely would have seen her cremated in Andrastian fashion.
