Well....we kinda did screw up on that one. However, it was 5 (7?) who screwed up the lot of mages everywhere.
5-7 humans, eh?

Et tu, Justina?
I missed you too, Lob. I've been really sick w pneumonia ![]()
BUT yeah, you're right about the human thing
you know I'm an elf at heart, always.
I wonder why we haven't seen many elven with roles in the Mage rebellion?

Ouch, I've had pneumonia before. It's not pleasant.
Well, Fiona is an elf. She doesn't represent elven interests, Merrill was inclined to side with the mages in Kirkwall....but other than those two? Can't think of any. I guess every dalish First and Keeper, and every city elf mage will be forced into the conflict by the zealots who wish to force the issue simply by virtue of them being mages.

Good grief, this is gonna be a messy war.

I think a Dalish-Libertarian alliance could work wonders.
As opposed to a Dalish-Lucrosian alliance? ![]()
Think of it, an entire fraternity devoted to economics. And what is economics? It's nothing more or less than the science of the production, distribution and consumption of goods and commodities.
Lucrosians would be the ones with the contacts for supplies, they would know the lyrium smugglers (Godwin) and now that they're out of the circle, they'll likely be the ones who focus on land, development, and investing in it to turn a profit of some sort. Whether it's in crops (which all cultures need) tradeable goods (which all cultures either need or enjoy in luxury,) or so on.
Say the elves get the Dales because the humans just abandon it as a result of the war, wouldn't elven lucrosians have the best bet of bringing the Dalish useful supplies kind of like the surface dwarves do for Orzammar but without the casteless status?
I think a Dalish-Libertarian alliance could work wonders.
That could only go so far. There's nothing to say that the Libertarians would necessarily want to work with the Dalish, as their end goals differ.
As opposed to a Dalish-Lucrosian alliance?
That's step two, following a strong alliance with our dwarven neighbors whose gate is bordering our Frostback Mountains territory in the Dales.
Sweet....although, what do the dwarves have that the dalish want? Lyrium would be a logical choice, but the Dwarven Noble also implies that they sell more than lyrium when talking to Gorim at the silk merchant in that origin "We trade our good steel and stone for this?"
Elves don't seem to use steel and stone.
I know, they could enjoy Nug roast.
I don't know, in my personal opinion, I view the Keepers and Firsts as extraordinarily powerful Mages that have some sort of preservation of traditions with magic. I think they would bring great aid to the rebellion. Of course, like I said, this is just my opinion.

Of course they would. World of Thedas says the Dalish have developed powerful nature magic while spurning all spirit magic as they don't trust any spirits of the Beyond/Fade. Being able to command Sylvans would almost be like having a small army of golems if you compare them to the dwarves.

If we could find a way to reason with them, in Inquisition or future games, I'd love to have them help. I'm a major Keeper/First fangirl lol.

Maybe Inquisition will turn me into a bigger fan of the elves. I know that I plan to give each race at least one solid playthrough. Still sort of debating on whether I'll be a dwarf first (my first choice) or a qunari first (I'm super curious what they'll be like and the kinds of challenges they have to deal with as Inquisitor)

Sylvans aren't really comparable to golems...
just saying

One thing I don't understand is how they supposedly spurn Spirit Magic, and yet command spirits in the form of Sylvans.

Especially the enormous ones in Tevinter.
He's just joking, Schmooples.
Steel Golems would be nice addition to the border patrol, as well as filling the vacuum in the lyrium trade. You have a great point in dwarven goods as well.
I sincerely think something needs to be done about the darkspawn, as the surface kingdoms are wrong in seeing it as a dwarven problem. A new order of Emerald Knights and elven mages working alongside casteless recruits, warrior caste, golems, and Wardens in clearing out the lost thaigs. A continent wide expanse of darkspawn needs to be dealt with.
As paragon, and hopefully King of Orzammar, I can promise you two dozen steel golems plus lyrium for your mages in exchange for aid against the darkspawn in the deep roads.
When you think about it, it wouldn't be the first time. The honorable topsider was an elf, and he was given full honors and a dwarven burial because he was so respected by the dwarves he fought with.
And since there's a precedent, we can make it a tradition and that'll shut the dwarven nobles up. ![]()
