I guess Merrill is one of those people who is willing to help those in need, which is why she supports defending the Starkhaven mages from the rapist Kerras and his templars.
Just as Fenris feels the need to put down all those crazy blood mages in the circle.....The beauty of DA2, its easy to defend points of view you still think are wacky!
Didn't they win the land in war
Yup.
The Dalish are violent squatters in foreign land. The Templars are well within their right to kick them off.
And Fenris is culturally Andrastian. He has lived within human society all his life.
Fenris is culturally Imperial, not Andrastian. Also, no one owns Sundermount to my knowledge.

Ah, so it's ok for Merril to do whatever because she feels it's right but if a Templars goes after a Keeper because he believes it's right, you'd call him a monster.
And what are you? In nightmare that combo is shitty unless your Hawke is a mage. The greatest challenge of DA2 is beating legacy in nightmare without Anders. If you want to have even a greater challenge don't even bring Merril. Also make sure you fight Malvernis. Results? pressed reload button over hundred times.
No matter your emotion towards Anders he was the bread and butter of DA2 companions along with Aveline.
Fenris, Aveline, and Varric was my go-to party for my mage Hawke. But again... mage. Legacy I took Fenris, Varric, and Carver. That was fun. Of course... not on nightmare mode.

Its implied via convo with Sebby he even prayed to the Maker a few times.
Which explains the ambivalence towards her. On one hand you sometimes want to point the finger at her, but you cannot credibly do so when it is others who have driven themselves to their own fate.
It's so strange, it feels natural to blame her yet it is not right to do so when she's proven that she was correct almost all of the time.
This is all very interesting, but this thread is highly in danger of becoming the Mage v Templar thread again. Come on now, do we really only need more then one thread full of utter revolving door emotional attacks and defenses?
I had some issues with my group, but by no means was it that hard. You just play different without mages.
Vengeance Anders can kill all skeletons in Malvernis with proper use of martyr spell and AoE skills in matter of seconds. Anders can deal highest mage dps even more than Hawke but he lacks any real crowd control or utility, also he is very squishy in Vengeance form which makes Hawke the better mage overall but not in terms of damage. The point is he is not just a healer, in capable hands you can dispatch huge amounts of damage in very short time and permanently haste the party. With good micro managing he can also heal by controlling him and changing Vengeance to Panecea and heal and change back
I was able to finish the game with 3 companions instead of four on nightmare. I was rogue Hawke with vengeance Anders and Aveline. Also finished Legacy and MotA

lol I was in no way arguing that Anders wasn't great. But I was merely pointing out that a non mage party isn't quite that horribly difficult to beat it with. Warrior Hawke, Seb, Fenris, Aveline made it all pretty manageable.

Let's see if the player can change that in Inquisition. ![]()
Round and around we go.
Elu do you want some candy?
Let's see if the player can change that in Inquisition.
Let's all laugh good naturedly when it becomes obvious the Player cannot.
Geez people, you should know by now you can't debate Merrill with Lob.
Dalish should just stay out of human lands.
Which happens to be everything, of course.
Let's all laugh good naturedly when it becomes obvious the Player cannot.
My reaction if that happens.
hint: its not laughing.

Thing is, we weren't. =p

Given that I find the Chantry controlled Circles to be abhorrent, this shouldn't be a surprise to you. I fully defend protecting the Starkhaven mages from Karras and his templars, just like I defend killing Alrik and his templars to protect Ella.
What did Merrill actually do? I mean what has she personally done to someone that is 'immoral' or 'evil'? You'd lot have me believe that she's Adrian's elven cousin.

You could, at the very least, be a little more subtle in your double standard.
Well, then, Orlais should get the hell off the Dales.
The Dales belong to Orlais, though.

I can't condone the Starkhaven mages asking for Thrask's death to escape the Circle. Alrik and his cronies... boots to the head.
Geez people, you should know by now you can't debate Merrill with Lob.
I hate to tell you this, Mercury, but you do realize I'm not the only person participating in this debate, right? ![]()
