The funny thing is there are eight people who are uber active and defend Templars, no one else. It warms my heart when i see pro mages out number pro templars ten to one.

That said again you guys hate Merril because of the side she chooses and I can never agree with that.

Actually, no one has said that. *sigh* Ugh. It's like brick walls.

I move that all discussion about Merrill be laid to rest. She has no place in the discussion here.

Really tells you something about that camp doesn't it?

Hyperbole and inflation and outright delusion are their stock and trade.

Pro Mage?

Funny thing considering the context depends entirely on the PC if those sentiments EVER become more then mere words huh?

The joke is on you though, just like in Anders's case.

In order to make him kill mages you need to take part in Chantry's destruction. if you deny the quest "Justice" he will not help you.

You need to finish Merril's quests and take part in blood magic to make her follow you no matter what.

Fine with people hating the Merrill the person, but Merrill the mage is a premier example of someone that uses magic very efficiently and responsibly while defying the Chantry's bs.

It is so very knee-jerk and lacking any kind of critical analysis of the situation. I have yet to see a single Pro-Templar/Circle supporter that is all, "HUR DUR MAGES ARE ALL EVIL SQUISH" that didn't mean it ironically.

You mean defending a useful follower from her own stupidity for a few years for absolute obedience?

And also no, the PC doesn't have to engage in any of that idiocy to complete ANY of our quests, considering that mirror has on more then one occasion, never been completed, smashed and what have you and she still sided with me.

Nooooooooooo... That is... WRONG but I don't want to talk about her. Entirely possible for a rival path Hawke to get her to help the Templars. Just... UGH. Stop being wrong.

The ONLY person a Pro-Templar Hawke is forced to kill is Anders. The end. You spare him and he still comes after you in the Circle. That's it. Literally EVERYONE else will stay loyal to Hawke no matter what the choice if you have enough influence with them. Rival or Friendly.

Oh... and I guess Sebastian if you refuse to kill Anders, but still.

It has nothing to do with her liberal use of dangerous magic, willingness to trust demons, trying to fix a tainted mirror that killed two of her clansmen or simply just her attitude rubbing folks the wrong way.

Nope we're all just anti-mage.

Yeah I was meaning, "HUR DUR MAGES ARE ALL EVIL SQUISH", basically fits his philosophy.  And although I don't relish poster on poster crime, he is more of the templar version of Xil.

That is how I role played my Pro-Circle MAGE Hawke with Merrill. "Merrill, babe, WTF you doing? This is dangerous! I cannot support this!" "Fine, Hawke! I WILL DO ON MY OWN!" ((flash forward to the finale)) "I'm siding with you, Meredith." Merrill: "..."

The only person that even said anything during The Choice was Isabela, and she still came with my Hawke out of Loyalty for not throwing her to the Arishok.

Merril destroyed the mirror, blamed herself for her mentor's death and helped Hawke restore order to Kirkwall.

Why would I ever hate her for choices? We ended up agreeing with each other.

Merril is a good mage; her disbelief over what the Magisters are willing to do for power does her credit. I just wish she hadn't experimented with a potentially dangerous magical artifact, using blood magic, at the behest of a demon, in the middle of an overflowing city where the Veil has more holes than the moon.

Of course. Because the Pro-Templar folk have never talked about nukes in reference to mages, they've never gone on about abominations as if ninety percent of mages spontaneously turn into them all at once outside of their towers.

They would never insinuate or even outright declare that all mages are ticking time bombs in one way or another. No, no, no. The Pro-Templars are innocent in the usage of hyperbole, inflation and delusion.

May I borrow your rose-tinted glasses?

What rubbish.

Thiiiiiiiiiiis. She is a good person. No argument there. She just makes really questionable choices.

Honestly, I have a headcanon that the demon she was making deals with was gaining power from her sacrifices and using it to subconsciously influence her clans and further her isolation. It is how I come to grips with the sudden Marethari heel turn in Act 3.

Audacity was sundered from the Fade and bound to a stature for a millennia. It wasn't in a position to accept sacrifices or anything like that, headcanon or not. And Marethari's actions in Act III may have been the result of Audacity, since it lead her to free it from it's prison.
