I remember back in 2010 when ME2 hit the scene and people experienced the Archangel mission on Omega, fans ran to the internet to claim that Garrus is the Batman of Omega. That never sat well with me because Garrus and Batman are fundamentally different. The distinctions are pretty clear. Batman beats the snot out of crooks with non-lethal gadgets, feet, fists and elbows. Garrus on the other hand explodes mofos' heads with an M-92 Mantis. Garrus Vakarian is The Punisher of Omega.

But Batman is a character who has a more mainstream name (Even if you know OF the Punisher, he's not exactly part of Marvel's A-list heroes). And you have to admit, 'Omega's Dark Knight' has a nice ring to it.

 

Besides, unarmed combat isn't exactly a major focus of the series, so having him go go gadget on everyone wouldn't really translate into game mechanics.

I don't disagree that Batman is more popular. I'm just pointing out that Garrus caps foos and Bats doesn't. Plus, I'm pretty sure that Mass Effect fans know who Frank Castle is.
