Yes, I am aware that DA2 had a high resolution texture pack for PC, and I appreciated it, but it was not complete, and Mass Effect 3 never offered one at all, which worries me for future Bioware games.  Since we don't know if/when texture modding will be possible on the Frostbite 3 engine, I'd like to ask for this early.

Especially for cutscenes, nothing takes me out of the game faster than being distracted by weird, blurry textures.  I hope this is something being considered, especially at game launch.

Well on the cut scenes part considering everything is done in engine, the textures offered during gameplay will be offered in the cut scenes. A high resolution texture pack is a good request though.

I didn't mean I wanted high resolution textures especially made for cutscenes, I meant that I am especially distracted by low res textures during cutscenes.  Thanks for your support, though!

Seconded. I feel bad for people that can't use the HD texture pack on Dragon Age II.

cuz we're the ficking mustard rice thats why!

plus pc is capable of that stuff due to hardware and thingies that the consoles aren't at.

I think the situation is a little bit different now. In DA 2 we had two old hardware consoles struggle to run smooth and look fine and a PC version limited by the multiplatform development.

We still have a multiplatform title and PS3 and XBOX 360 are still there, but it's pretty obvious that PS4, Xbox One and PC versions will all share the same high definition textures  :)

So i will not worry about that.

I support this request and I hope every texture is covered (not just the environmental ones) in at least 2K.

I'm sure everything will be pushed to optimal for all consoles, PC however could use options such as this, more so this time since we aren't getting any official mod support.

I'm specifically asking for the PC because I'm a PC player, and honestly, I've never heard of console games having high resolution textures released as downloadable content, so it didn't occur to me that it's something that could happen.  I'm definitely not opposed to that, if it is possible.

That would be interesting Free DLC packs and/or large patches. Especially since modern consoles can handle it.

It happened on console either even if not so often :)

Anyway, don't worry, current gen consoles and PC will not have any problems with low res textures this time ;)

Problem is, consoled are limited by hardware. They rarely go through hardware changes. The version of dragon age that comes out on consoles is probably optimized for it. The PC is upgradable, which makes it much easier to have a high resolution texture pack.

I don't understand the reason why PC need a high resolution pack this time... I could understand if DA:I was a 360 / PS3 / PC title only. PS3 and 360 are old hardware and for sure they will have lower resolution texture...

but DA: I is on  PS4, Xbox One too and if you played games like Infamous Second Son, Ryse or Killzone Shadow Fall you know what those consoles are capable of.

So, don't worry , PS4, XboX One and PC will share the same high resolution texture :)

Sure PC will run 4k resolution and will have more effects

I think this is more for people that want to push their limits of hardware =) The PC is able to run at better performance than the consoles. I agree though, it does look good at the moment. =P

Exclusives and multiplatform games are not the same, something to keep in mind. DA:I is probably going to ask more of consoles than your typical game too, it being open world and all. I know XONE is already struggling to deliver games at a decent framerate while keeping the resolution up. PS4 is also in the end, a medium range PC. We'll see how it goes. Hopefully the default textures are at least 2k.

Inquisition isn't open world. It just has big maps.

I'll add my vote to this as a PC gamer. Bethesda released a pack for Skyrim and we got one for DA2. While there are fans who make texture packs for games they think need them, it'd be nice if developers provided their own according to artist intent. :)

Cmon, have you see the videos of DA:I ? It's wonderfull but it doesen't seem demanding at all... You really think Xbox One and PS4 have really reach the end of their potential in a bunch of months? :P

Anyway it will have the same texture on both pc and current gen platforms... i higly doubt they have made 3 version (old gen, curren gen, high end pc) for the game ;)

I'm just saying... You could be right about DA:I not being so resource-heavy. PS4's card is a modified version of the 7870 HD, it's a good card, probably could handle DA:I in 1080p.

The game is multi-region open world, same as Witcher 3.

This is a very good idea. Especially if released as a free dlc.  Sort of like what Bethesda did with Skyrim's HD Texture Packs, Skyrim's Legendary Difficulty and Mounted Combat...

I'm pretty certain the game will include hi-res textures on PS4, xbone, PC

Eh. I'm not sure it will be needed.

One of the benefits of the Frostbite engine is platform modularity (or so we've been told). They can easily share resources across all of the platforms (including old consoles, new consoles and PCs), but still optimize and design them in very separate ways. This isn't going to be a  port of a console game with a PC UI, for instance. It is going to be optimized for the PC, simply because Frostbite allows the developers to optimize for the consoles (all four of them) AND optimize for the PC in parallel, with resource limitations of one system not putting up barriers for another.

This is not something that previous engines did well (or at all, in some cases). I think the chances of a PC version being cranked up to Ultra on the graphics setting will be as good as any Hi-Res HD texture packs. I could be wrong, but that was my impression on how Frostbite was designed to help support multiple platforms (once Mac compatibility is incorporated into Frostbite - which could happen tomorrow or 2016), my understanding is that they could do the exact same thing there as well.

I didn't know that this to be the case. If so, then there is no need for High Texture DLC packs then. Just make the game as good as it can look.
