Tiny bit worried about Vivienne!

You're telling this to a black man lol, anyways my point was there might be other meanings to a particular word but that doesnt take away from the offensive context surrounding it
i'm just saying, it sounded worse lol.

Dragon Age wasn't written by aliens. Analysing it through a contemporary lens and relating it to contemporary issues is a perfectly legit method of analysis.
Except it's not because no real world issue is directly translatable to anything in your argument. You're being highly offensive and using charged words because you know that you'll get a response from it, not because you needed something to relate to.

You know, for a guy who makes his battle on the Dragon Age forums 'equality' and and 'better treatment for the marginalised', you'd think you would have a bit more tact and sensibility before using the term 'Uncle Tom' in reference to a black character and then defending your usage of it.
To be honest I expected more tolerance of opposing viewpoints from a champion of equality then to decry a mage as a traitor and call them essentially a alrik-in-mage-clothing simply for not sharing the same view as other mages.

That wasn't what I was trying to do. I don't deny that it was thoughtless of me to use the term.
I'm sorry I said it, and I'll watch my language in future.

I remember the conversation at the City of Amaranthine.
As for Vivienne, I think she will likely have layers beyond the mage issue. While it's certainly something I'd disagree with her on, I don't think it's necessarily the entirety of her character. It's clearly something that creates a rift for some players, but I think there will be more to her than the Orlesian pomp and her stance on the mage issue.
God I hope so. One note characters can get really tiresome after a while.

Where did you ever get the impression that I blindly tolerate opposing viewpoints?

Freedom of speech has it's limitations when you are using such a platform. I accept his apology but there was certainly an issue here.

All republicans oppress gays. Mighty political there, not Plantiff.
It's the official party line, which is all that matters. If individual republicans feel differently, they are free to stop being republicans at any time they choose.

People have a right to be offended over historically offensive word choices.

There is no group that is entirely homogenous, please remember to do your research next time. And let's try to please keep things at least having a semblance of respect for one another and not just start insulting each other. Shall we?

Well freedom of speech means I'm also free to not be racist, which I'd honestly prefer.
I'd rather people tell me when I'm being offensive. I'm a part of a marginalised group myself, and I know how much it can hurt when people throw certain words around without thinking.
Hurting other marginalised people is the last thing I want to do.

I'm guessing you don't actually get how Freedom of Speech works. Nor do you understand how the international version of it works. That's not a free pass to say whatever you want to whoever you want.

I thought you were free to say whatever you wanted (long as it wasn't something that would cause a panic "fire" in a crowded theater for instance)
You just don't have any right to any shielding from the results of what comes out of your mouth.
I.E. stay stupid **** people can and will openly mock/respond to it.
