It is someone sad for me, I suppose. What's the old saying? "A man is measured by the strength of his opponents." That's certainly a bit tragic. But this is an internet forum, after all. Nobody's going to win a Nobel Prize off what happens here.

But yes, they do need to. What would people like Cheesecake up there do otherwise? What could he do?

Oh Davey you know I'd just wither away without your guiding light!

The forum was so peaceful when you were gone! People were so willing to agree to disagree! It was MADNESS!

But you're back now... and you get to play with us forever and ever and ever...

Do you know how much of a moron you are right now bob? I mean that seriously, without any sarcasm, and without this being rhetorical in the least. Do you realize how dumb you look making statements like this, given the reputation you have carved for yourself.

I mean, after all, you did this stuff before. You know what price you paid for it. And yet here you are again, starting more fights, tempting fate more and more. Do you even care anymore bob? Have you just run out of the ability to care?

Now just that's not true. Of course I care. I'd love for everyone to immediately agree with me that storytellers have every right to not to show characters are intimate without showing explicit sex. Or for, example, that the 'hate' for Liara quite obviously has little to do with her character and a great deal to do with other stuff.

Sadly, that doesn't happen. But it just wouldn't be right to let public opinion get in the way of that, would it?

...

However if you are going to start including scenes like liara's and want to actually get people invested in it then you can't have people sitting thinking "well liara is naked why isn't femshep?" "Where the hell have liara's nipples gone?" "Why is this supposedly erotic scene with traynor laughable?" "Why isn't manshep taking his clothes off as Miranda rides him?".
It has nothing to do with immaturity (that is being taken care of by a few posters here) but bioware taking a risk and actually doing a proper job on scenes that they are already implementing.

...

Were people actually wondering why Shepard wasn't naked? Its implied that everyone's clothes all come off AFTER the fade to black or the scene cuts out. Also, I think Liara's nipples only become an issue when you start analyzing frames, its not something that is noticeable when the scene plays in-game.

Being a mandatory squadmate, being a central character, having more love interest content than other characters, being a very 'good' character...

What other stuff is that?

Made up stuff of course.

Silly, childish, irritating, simplistic 'facts' created by David because he really has a breathtaking ego of self-supremacy that essentially borders on thought-crime supporting anthropocentrism.

She wasn't being a "good" character, she was being a very annoying character.

Since you are so quick to ascribe your opinions as facts over other people regarding their opinion of Liara and telling them what they really think, I'll tell you what you really think: You have a problem with people having different views and criticizing things you like and love without sitting back and looking at actual reasonable arguments on a meta-scale. You're upset at being powerless over other peoples ideas and criticisms. You make up these silly and pathetic arguments to give yourself some sense of satisfaction at shouting at the crowds, telling them how upset you are at their opinions and how you feel how 'wrong' those opinions are.

How's that everyone, in the ballpark? I think I knocked it outta there.

Look we're not asking for a long 20 to 30 minute drawn out love scene, but FFS all we're asking is for equal treatment. A scene of reasonable length (like Liara's) and a nice gradual fade to black would be fine.

Why is Liara's love scene in ME1 and ME3 treated differently and better than the others? Is it the writer's not so subtle hint to the players that "This is your canon love interest"? One could easily take it that way.

And people accuse me of making strawmen. How very silly.

Allow me to reiterate the two points I've made in this thread:

1. BioWare doesn't need to show nudity to be mature.

2. Whatever complaints people have about love interest content have nothing to do with maturity.

I'm sure plenty of people will whine, yet again, that this is a strawman as well. It isn't, of course.

I replied:

OMG, do you ever give a coherent response to a post? Do you ever actually answer a question? Apparently not. It wouldn't be heroic.

The answer to the first question I asked had nothing to do with whether or not Bioware needed to show nudity to be mature.

Your answer to part 2 was that "Whatever complaints people have about love interest content have nothing to do with maturity."

What does that have to do with "Why is Liara's love scene in ME1 and ME3 treated differently and better than the others?"

All you do is deflect the question with an irrelevant response to something that has nothing to do with the question asked of you and say that the person is presenting a strawman. Do you even know what a strawman is?

We lost him for about a month or so when his last account got permabanned. He came back again. With the same exact name and avatar, and it got banned again. His ego must hate the fact he has to use a different name now.

You can all enjoy David's "interesting" brand of entertainment, I just added him and Obadiah to my ignore list for posts/sigs/messages.  I got bored of the same tired old David / copycat David act.

The reason Liara is naked is because the scene is framed so that her breasts and vagina are obscured. The scene with the other humans is not, so they're in underwear. The whole idea was to have love scenes that are emotional but aren't explicit. Sometimes the devs obscured body parts, sometimes they put people in underwear.

I like Liara's love scene just because her new skin and the focus on the back of her head just makes the coupling seem so strange. Her appearance is similar to the blue body paint that Mystique wears in the X-Men movies.

Maybe they should have just have just showed traynor from the neck or upper chest up while she was taking a shower, and only showed her from the back in other scenes. Same with femshep as well. That's mainly what was being discussed here, that bioware took a scene where one technique would have clearly been much more appropriate, and instead choose to employ another technique that was inappropriate and out of place.

People being in underwear in a situation where no underwear could conceivably be worn without it being weird, you know, like when showering, is a major gaff. Just as a scene where people are supposed to be fully clothed but instead show up naked, such as a battlefield or board meeting, is equally ridiculous for the same reason.

For the shower scene they could use steam to cover the bottom part and have the camera at certain angles avoiding their chests
