Why the hell would the Inquisitor care about this, again?

Because all the protagonists share an empathetic link, they wouldn't know exactly why they desire revenge against these characters however they would feel an overwhelming sense of butthurt and require restitution.

Wow. Just ****** wow.
None of the love interests in Origins 'abandoned' the Warden except possibly Morrigan, who made it clear from the start that she had no intention of sticking around.
But even if they had, wanting to exact revenge on someone for breaking up with you MAKES YOU A ****** SOCIOPATH WHO BELONGS IN JAIL.

Too many people play the character as self-inserts.

Eh, it's a perfectly valid way to play the game, if you don't want to actually role-play.
But having your character form a vendetta against someone who did something perfectly within their rights (ending a relationship) that your character wasn't even a part of? Years ago?
That's some next-level weird, right there.

I dont see any reason why the Inquisitor, an individual preoccupied with saving Thedas, would go out of their way to get revenge for a person they likely never met, all while people are dying

...Alistair for leaving if you spare loghain, morrigan for running off if you do the ritual, leliana for trying to attack if you taint the ashes, or zevran if he goes with the crows?
And why would the inquisitor care about any of those things

1) Anything I can do to be a bigger sociopath/psycho/etc. is welcomed
2) I want to find a bottle with a note in it that is some 15-20 years old from the Warden giving you the quest to murder all former LIs or you get a game over screen.

Inquisitor: "I have it from a reliable source that you abandoned the Hero of Ferelden during the Blight."
Leliana: "But he told me to leave his camp."
Inquisitor: "Oh, it seems that detail was left out of the letter I received."
Leliana: "What an ass."
Inquisitor: "I know, right?"

yes please!
well i don't really care for LIs but i'd love to kill quite a few GW's companions who managed to somehow cheat death (hello, Leliana!) or left with resentment (Morrigan) or showed middle finger to the core concept of organisation (calling PC's conduct ungray-wardeny, ha!) by becoming a king. don't get me wrong - i really loved those chars, but my PC really needs to use her/his murder-knife sometime. it might rust!

lol its just a game pal calm down. it would make an interesting case, "your accused of killing a character in a video game how do you plea?"

to the sensible people, i had't thought of role play and why the inquisitor would care good point altho the messege in the bottle would be funny as hell XD

if and I should stress IF the Inquisitor can have a relationship with one of the former LI then under the right circumstances I can see a past relationship with The Grey Warden or the Champion of Kirkwall at least being referenced. Something like you left them when they needed you why should I trust you or so on but I can't recall any cases where a LI explicitly left either of them, even Morrigan you could opt to follow into the unknown.
Originally when you said chance to confront old wrongs I assumed you meant you wanted to side or not side with the mages etc not hunting down a unrequited love interest for a personal vendetta that isn't connected to the the protagonist
