Brian Bloom mentioned the word evolved when describing Varric. I think he'll be more serious due to what he has seen this time round while still retaining his innate Varric charm.
So what do you think is going to be wrong with Varric?

I'm not sure Varric has to change much , because he's now in a very different situation.
In DA2 , he's Hawke business partner , and like a funny dwarf Godfather ...he kept on pulling strings left and right to keep Hawke's group safe.
I guess our new companions will be able to take care of themselves just fine.
And he's going to be out of his element , the wilderness.He's a city dwarf.
Chances are he'll follow the Inquisitor because there's a world to save...but he may have some big crisis point this time.
I mean in the demo , he's depressed if you leave Crestwood to burn.

Well his voice actor did state that Varric is somewhat changed. He's still his own personality, light hearted, drunken, loyal and such, but I think the events and destruction within Kirkwall has hardened him to a point where he realises that the world does need fixing and that he can help.
