As I recall, many complained that Isabella was overly sexy, basically a fan boy service (huge breasts and ass, flirt with everything that move) and the avatar-wannabe elf design, which affected Merrill look. Though I don't remember anyone demanded sexier female LIs? More realistic (personality, character's design etc...) maybe, but I don't think people really care about sex appeal.

I love how people claim this and didn't seem to realize that is her personality from DA:O as well. and who knows Isabella orginal design could have been that, but because its DA:O and she is in the game at most 3 minutes, making a custom model for her would have been not worth it.

 

Also the anorexic look of the elves just really didn't seem very "attractive" to me... I don't find seeing ribs atractive, just don't sorry. at most the bottem one is 'ok'  but anything past that and I say.. eat more please....

I dunno. The original artwork hues a tad too close to "Dragon Age Jack" imho.

Its cool looking, but perhaps they started to see the same- ME Jack suddenly in Thedas.

I think its early version of Sera as well. But it would have been cool if sera and this character was different and both in the team. Two elves with different world view and personality clashing with each other. Could have been a excellent way to portray the varied world view of the elves themselves with solus taking the middle ground. The party banter would have been awesome

I actually was referring to back then with DA 2. And yeah, I've seen people complained about new Morrigan and Cassandra. Well people just love to complain about everything.

Didn't we see a possible dual wield spec for warriors? The second elf could possibly fill that role. Even if she was a second rogue, she could be walking around with a bow because Dalish usually carry around bows and we know we are we can interchange weapons.
Even Sera can be a dual wielder if we wish.

They may try to sex up the females. Didn't it was one of the complains people have with DA2 where straight males find the females to be not attractive enough?

 

 Isabel was too sexed up according to a lot of complaints. People actually started calling her a ******, or ran to get mods to make her white (gag). There's no way to please everyone, Bioware is better off designing characters without player input.

That's very probably Sera, before she went through a dramatic re-design. Something about DA elves seems to make this happen. Zevran, Merrill and Fenris all looked very different in their initial concept art from what we actually got in game.

(Actually, Fenris also looked like about half a dozen other completely different things at various points, but you get the idea.)

 

What I want to know is whether we're getting a female dwarf companion. We've already got Sera, we don't need another elf girl!

I really do wish they had kept this version of Sera, if indeed it ever was one. It has a much more interesting look than the current concept art we've seen of her. That said, Sera is probably still my most look forward to character.

If so then it's not, the image at the bottom is an early early DA2 concept of Ulrich Von Hawke the lycanthrope mage that they dropped, an unnamed female elf that could've eventually became Serra over time or she's another character, the other 2 are likely just concepts of character types they wanted to try.

I doubt it's actually the warden or the iron bull.

Well, they have what seems pretty sure to be a bow elf rogue (Sera), a two handed warrior qunari (Iron Bull) and a sword/shield warden, which is also what these guys look like. So, I wouldn't be that surprised if these characters became those characters. It might not be, though.

Well, the second image is interesting, though I am slightly hesitant on her being dalish (lack of tattoos being the main reason, though it would be cool to have another Dalish companion imo), but she could be an interesting character, this would assume of course that she isn't just Sera's previous design.

An early version of Sera, most likely. Really like the attire and hairstyle. I hope the final Sera will look just as awesome.

That's what I thought aswell, i've said it numerous times and in the other thread about this, or she's someone else an agent perhaps since they showed this right after Laidlaw said agents, but who knows.

I believe they are the initial concepts of the companions we have now, In that picture you will find The Grey Warden who is now our bearded warden, Iron Bull...who is now Iron Bull and Sera

Sorry to burst Yall's bubble but the first and third image are not concept art for DA:I. They're concepts for characters, very early into the dev cycle of DA2. On the left is the champion next is a very early version of merril, third is the warden ( who they we're considering putting into the game at the time) and lastly is a qunari companion who was cut. the second image is concept art from DA:I, it's just an early version of sera. You can see the images in this DA2 dev diary.

LOL You might want to read the thread, because we know it's very old art Gamer.  We've been talking about it. The video on the subject is very welcome, since it'll put any last rumors to bed.

Ah I see that now. I thought there were still some people who were thinking otherwise, misread some of the comments though.
