I don't get it.Why kick someone when it's just as easy for 3 decent players to just carry the match. It's not wrong to help a lower level player out, especially if they help with killing and taking care of objectives. If they just obviously leech, then that's another story which calls for kicking or in my opinion, just leaving.

As I've said a hundred times before: it gets old after the 300th time. I keep getting posters who act as if I've never carried before. I've also seen the phrase "lrn2carry or you have no business being in platinum". Well, that logic is better applied to the ones begging to be carried match after match.

That particular discussion is done and over with; I rarely touch this game anymore and only made this thread to better understand their behavior.

If someone wants me to carry them the LEAST they can do is demonstrate the courtesy to PM me about it beforehand, and give me the opportunity to want to carry them.

If they have been irritating in the game (never medigelling, never doing objectives), i take off all equipment, switch to private/platinum/collectors/hazard glacier then suicide on wave 1 and 2. So far none has reached wave 3. If they don't get the message, i ready up again. They then die again and i repeat until they realise that

i) no one is coming in to rescue and carry them

ii) i'm not interested in carrying

Alternatively, if i am in a good mood, i set it to bronze. Almost guaranteed said freeloaders will leave which obviously answers the question of why they refuse to leave the lobby. Only the real newbies or those who did not notice the change will remain. Those who did not notice it was bronze, realise it immediately at the start of wave 2 which is about 20-30 secs. Once these types realise it and leave, i exit and leave the match to the newbies (who are now in the difficulty best suited for them to learn)

I joined a lobby last night that had 2 people, both with kick votes, and they had mics so I could tell they were friends just messing around. So I did the only sensible thing and put another X on one of them, kicking them from the lobby- then I left to find a different lobby.

When I get two kick votes I assume it's because they think I'm going to be the reason the team fails. I'm gonna prove them wrong.

That's why I left.

AH ok.  My confusion then.  I thought you were saying that you and someone else voted to kick and the third person just... didn't.  Which, happens if third kicker just showed up in the lobby a lot in my experience.  I don't know, I don't really kick much myself.  I usually just leave.  But then again I also mostly pug and those games are usually silent, so it's not like I'm sitting in the lobby with a friend or two and we get a random who's not just a newbie but truly awful in a leechy sort of way.

Lol. You are assuming that these players -

1 Have enough intelligence to realise what you are doing

2  Have any self respect

If I could carry better I'd probably do that when I'm in a bad mood and playing to vent anger.  I'm not consistently good enough to carry, though; sometimes I can, sometimes I die like a newb.

carrying is a pain in the ass. I play for fun, and most of the time I'm not in the mood to pull extra weight for total strangers who are too lazy to help themselves while being a burden for others. It feels good to help new players, especially if the session has been arranged beforehand.

Not at all what my deal with PUGs is about.

Yeah, there's a difference between a newbie who maybe jumped in too deep and a tool who just can't be bothered (and thus ruins my fun).  Most of the time it seems pretty easy to spot the difference, regardless of if I'm in the mood to carry some newbies or not.  If I'm not, no harm no foul to the newbies, but I'm going to go find a different lobby.  Either way, same story for the tool unless they're being a tool in some specific way I can mess with without getting my butt shot off.

The random lobby system is crap. Kicking people is a f'd up way to play a game. It would be better if the players could see all the current available games and request to join. Then the host could invite the people they want rather than kicking people out.

And, as Tokenusername said, someone might join your game only to be an a-hole (for example, taking the pizza to the corner of the map until time runs out). The Kick process is pure poison.

How dare you introducing logic into this forum...

I am seeing more of these kick votes in lobbies. 2 players trying to kick a 3rd player on Gold ?

Come on guys I am sure we can carry this ?  Then the X X s start flashing like they are pushing me to kick so I leave .

Pathetic really . These players are usually not that much more experienced or better equipped than the kickee

I used to just ready up and see what happens in game, but experience has shown me that someone with two kick votes almost invariably prove worthy of being kicked.

I seldomly vote kick based on first lobby view - I will give all (most) players 1 game/chance to prove themselves/improve ( always try to remember this is just a game and no galaxy will burn because you rushed in head first without screening for the most qualified/highly trained personel - you can afford to give new/unknown people 1 chance) ..

Sometimes they're dirty leechers (not leaving the game would encourage them to do it again to someone else), most of them will try (and fail miserably - and still profit from the experince (by gaining ..well experience :) ) .. Rarely they will even suprise you (decent or better) ..

I'm not a very strong player - not very well suited to carry - and I won't even try that hard unless the rest of the team shows willingness to win (full pug lobby which I do a lot of). (If I have friends - as long as he's not just an immobile leecher - whatever ..(might change lobby if he's really abysmal after - but he'll get another completed gold game udner his belt this way - I tend to believe simply participating (with some degree of intrest) in gold games helps them improve))

My stepson got kicked from a bronze (yes bronze) lobby twice in one hour because his N7 was under 20. That one blew my mind. He just started playing that same day. In the early days maybe that was a common thing but this was last summer.

These are my thoughts exactly....i normally don't like to kick anybody, even if it's low level N7's. For the most part i assume we have enough firepower and experience to carry the folks that are trying to be kicked. The only time i will truly ever kick is if we are involved in a Plat lobby and a low level player comes in, readies up with "0" equipment....i don't like to kick folks at all, but somebody like that is not going to contribute at all....

I think the question you should be asking is why isn't the third person also putting a kick vote on the person who won't leave.  Their refusal says more to me than your kick votes do.  Put another way, you meet an a-hole in the morning, you've met one a-hole.  You meet nothing but a-holes all day long, well then maybe you're the a-hole.

This ^ I'm not sure what someone would have to do anger me so much that I would vote to kick them, it's just a game....

Two people voted to kick me one time and basically my game had glitched and I couldn't move, the only way to fix it was to hope to die (as that sometimes fixes it) I was playing with RogueState at the time and he was hosting, so we just dumped them both for being intolerant *ssholes! We play for fun, we've never yet been so angered by anyone that we have felt the need to kick...

I think the problem is when people forget it's just a game and we are all just supposed to be having fun. No one is losing anything real like money or a job, no one is forced to play... if you don't like someone - leave and start a new game - Simple really :)

Well there was that one person who "ran over my corpse" lol

She was very close to getting kicked :P  But then we just left and started a new game, easier I'd say than kicking someone and far less douchey!

Most of the time I just leave. I tend to have limited gaming time these days and with no ping indicator, who knows how much lag I will suffer. I refuse to carry on a laggy host. It's going to take too long and frustrating.
