liked

- the importance of usefulness of backstab
- varied builds - strength, dex, and cunning based rogues all viable

disliked

- traditional roguish abilities such as trap and poison making, pickpocketing, lockpicking, and stealth require too much investment
- no archer specialization
- no cool mechanic for archers to compensate for not having backstab
- duelist seems underwhelming compaired to the assassin
- No tactics or AI to have rogues automatically get behind a target for a backstab

What do you like and dislike about the Rogue?
i like..
  • thier versatility in combat and general build options.  One could run a sword and shield rogue if one were so inclined, it may not be the best way to utilize a character with so much potential given the alternatives, but  it can be done!
  •  that playing/traveling with a certain build of rogue opens ups pathways/treasure chests that otherwise less cunning adventurers would overlook.
  • that they make efficient use of cunning which holds influence over damage dealing, skill requirements, and coercion
I suppose i dislike the amount of variety available regaurding armor aesthetics in the light armor category.  Animal hide, fur, cloaks/hoods, or intricately detailed armors to expand on the visualization of the rogue throughout the numerous specialization choices would be just fantastic.

Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Rogue?

I feel like..
  •  the Assassin/Duelist spec is overpowered OR.. perfectly complimentary.  They are both geared toward combatting single targets and do an exceptional job at it.
  • Though archery is not exclusive to the rogue, i feel it is best utilized and sybmolic of a rogue archetype. It seems underpowered, but i think that could be alleviated by detailed description of the benefits of the talents.  E.x. what are the bonuses (numerically) of using AIM, putting a point into master archer, or using suppressing fire? I can only assume that they have a substantial positive affect Image IPB
what are your favorite Rogue specializations? What are your least favorite?

Ranger!  Bard, and duelist.. are favorites, assassin is only my least favorite becuase of her flavor.  I usually play a "good" aligned character and i just can't specialized into it...but that's MY problem

What are your favorite Rogue talent trees? What are your least favorite?

The Below The Belt tree and Dirty Fighting tree are my favorites..Least favorite being the Deft Hands tree, but not becuase i don't think it's useful!  I usually play a rogue becuase I greatly enjoy finding and unlocking doors/treasure chests, but it ONLY has one use.  Even the stealth tree in tier 4 allows you to do something different with the skill (enabling you to stealth in combat).

I don't know if this fits or not but...

Poisons - Grenade weapons

Add a little more range please, as in throwing a bomb/flask you have to nearly run right up to a group of enemies. If I'm going to be that close I'll just WW right in the middle of em or play stabbity stab on single targets. It just seems so very not worthwhile at the moment. imho

What i like about the rogue.

well i am gonna go out on a limb here and say what i like the most is that the rogues get more skill points then any other class, i find myself making a rogue with a 2handed instead of a warrior cause i whant to max out my diplomacy early, i al only take 2 points in poison cause i whant to make bombs cause they are great for using as crowdcontrolers and the sharede cooldown on them is a stroke of genius, so you dont use 40 acid bombs right away but can use one of each.

i dont know if you intentionely made the kick and armor penetration atack just incase that ppl play as i do going with unconventionel rogue weapons but i love that because then i have a few atacks that is not lockdown in archery or duelwielding, i just wish there had been 1 more so i am not bound to 3 abelleties.

what i dislike about the rogue as i would say about every class is that there isent much room for personel custamization like there is in Never Winter Nights 2 wich i just can spend up to an hour plotting and planing how i can custamize my char, for instance i would find myself making a bard/palemaster putting much of my time into thinking where my skill points would go, what weapon i would use and how it my effect my over all performens, that is something i really miss in this great game for each player really loves that he can make a hero that looks little like himself/herself and twiking the skills so the match one play style, classes in DA just dosent have that personal custamization feel to it that Nwn2 has.

oh and another thing i really really hate about the rogue is the cooldown on pickpockets its really really borring standing around waiting on that 10 sec cd to get done before you can pick the pockets of another!! a 3 sec would be more then enough.

when it comes to specialization well i can say that assasination and duelwielding is okay but to me does are standarts you almost find in every game so becoming a assasin issent that big a deal atleast not to me, i do like the bard skills cause bards like in NWNs had a broad spectrum playstyle and thats a good thing.

ranger is also standart but a good one if you whant pets to help dmg so unless you come up with something truely original in the next game like armoring your pets or come up with entierly new pets like plants or a blob with tentacels or a fleesh eating diseas cloud then the bear/wolf thing been done to death, but still its nice if u whant pets to help dmg.

talent trees. i like duelwielding even tho i find myself using a 2handed or swordshield rather then going duelspec and using kick/armor penetration (death strike i thing) as atacks, i have played as a archer and maxing out the talent tree and i still feelt underpowerede in comparision to the rest of my team, i could make white dmg for 26 with a dex over 30 and using a dalish longbow wiel alastair could do over 30 white dmg and then adding rune dmg to that and sins you cant add runes to your bow/crossbow and selling your bolts and arrows for the good gold they give well....i am not making to many archers, there is only 2 things i like in archery wich i find new to the gaming world that is pinning shot and scatter shot but if you have a companion atacking the same target you have well then you dont use pinning shot that much, scattershot is nice crowdcontrol abeliety so you are really waiting for its cooldown to reach zero but it cost alot to fire and when you have spendt your points on dex,stre/hp you really dont have that much left to add more in willpower unless you whant to be underpowerede in other areas.

many has more then likely said that the stealth tree is great and i agree the teir 4 wich allows you to stealth in combate is a good thing.

if there is something i would enjoy seeing is that specializations trees had more spells/teirs cause having one or 2 spells u can use in combate and the rest is upgrades is fine but i would like to see new atacks, stunlocks, eyegouging, groinkicking, hairpulling something then feks assasin have the mark of death and Thats really about it..

oh i forgot it would be cool if the rogues could get the talent tree shield and sword or something like that, you could make 2 kinds of shields buckler and heavy shields, buckler shields for the rogues with some teirs in shield and warriors getting more tiers and can use heavyer shields like tower shield etc

What do you like and dislike about the Rogue?

Like:
  • Stealth ability and the backstabbing skill along with dual wield of course
  • class possess a lot of option in relation to talent points
Dislike:
  • The special attack should have better animations, sometime I don't even notice them and I wonder if the AI actually execute them.If you give them a whirldwind attack, don't be afraid to put some cheese(wind particle effect or something) in there so we can properly see it
  • More creativity when it come to special attack.I would like a skill which can only be used from stealth like shadow step(yes from WOW :P)
  • Archer should become it's own class imo, since a rogue is better suited for melee and backstabbing.
Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Rogue?

I think rogue is more or less where he should be in term of damage.Using poison should be make easier, without even going from the item menu.In fact, some skill should be tied to poison rather than going through the menu and using poison for every attack.

What are your favorite Rogue talent trees? What are your least favorite?
  • Favorite are: stealth,below the belt,dirty fighing.
  • Deft hands should not be a talent tree imo,as the skill could be included in the stats.
What are your favorite Rogue specializations? What are your least favorite?

Favorite are assassin and duelist, while bard and archer doesn't fit the class at all imo.Rogue shouldn't waste stamina be singing(they are a dps class) and archer would be better off becoming a class with more option toward long range combat+animal training.

I don't play Rogues much but I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate that I have to keep one in the party to open locked chests, I'd much rather use that spot for another character, say...shale or someone I don't like to be forced to use a class in my party (Rogue) just to experience content (the locked chests) it really is a bad move and NEEDS to be fixed.

LOL, I had only a minor grip about that, but the more I read the complain in multiple posts, the more I agree with it. I like rogues in CRPG in general and in DAO, but yes the constraint isn't well seen.

How locked contents are managed in the game it's not stealing (and that's fine for me), but it's careful exploration reward (and that's good for gameplay even if a sort of realism is lost).

In this point of view, lockpicking should be doable by all classes. When stealing is more in rogue mood of the game and could be reserved to rogues with less frustration for other classes and parties with no rogues.

That's why I feel that steal and lockpick should be switch.

As a wow hater I'm fully subjective but now I understand from what come many cliche I saw in Dev Question about warrior class.

That would be awful that all CRPG get the same class system, so that wow made it should be a good reason to make it different in DAO, at least partialy.

I would not say the same from an interface design point of view, I think it's good games steal each other the good ideas. But on the core gameplay design point of view I'm a lot more negative, even if for sure some borrow can be good, new idea have much more chance to apeal.

  • What do you like and dislike about the Rogue?
I liked the origin stories, dual wielding and bow combat. I liked being able to spec so that cunning is a damage factor for rogues.
I dislike, picklock and stealth being talents rather than a skills. Stealth is more or less useless. Stamina costs for rogue seems through the roof, very hard to manage. It isn't fun.
  • Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Rogue?
Most of the specs for Rogue are good if you "min-max and stat crunch" however at first glance it is hard to get a good rogue and they overall feel underpowered. Espescially at the start of the game.
  • What are your favorite Rogue specializations? What are your least favorite?
Most of the rogue specializations are actually quite interesting although overall I would say assassin is my favorite while bard is the least intresting because the sustained skills doesn't seem to contribute all that much.
  • What are your favorite Rogue talent trees? What are your least favorite?
Dual-Wield is my favorite, it does alot of damage. However the actual damage skills are abit useless since they only seem to slow down your attacks. Bows are my least favorite, mainly because the stamina cost is so high for most of the good attacks so you can only use them once or twice in a fight.

Likes backstabbing and stealth, the rogue class abilities were well defined. I like how they were not too squishy, but did not like how lockpicking required 4 talent points to master, 2 would have been more reasonable I think.

I disliked the ranger class

Assassin was my favourite specialization

Would have liked a weapon style more for rogues, although I know someone modded them with sword and shield I never got around to trying it out, no reason they should not have been able to toss on a shield and use it.

My first character was a mage but my first full play was a rogue, Dual Weapon, Coercion, Lockpicking, Disarming and Survival but not of any crafting. Ranger, Duelist, focus on Cun and Dex, a bit of Str, a little nit of Will and Con, not an overpowered building, I'm not a fan of overpowered characters. Il also used often Zevran and Leliana, this adding some more experience of the Rogue class. It's not much experience but still not so few.

Q: What do you like and dislike about the Rogue?

R:
Like:
  • Very versatile class that allows more different build than let suspect to have only 2 fighting trees.
  • Specializations, certainly the best set of all classes even if mages aren't that far behind.
  • The numerous skills or rogues talents matching well the various builds around 2W and partially around Archer (see further for negative points about this tree).
  • 2W tree matching well rogues.
  • Archer Scattershot attack, nice to mix with Stealth if the attack get a lot of aggro.
Dislike:
  • Need to have a rogue in party to lockpick. Switching Lockpick and Steal would make sense: Lockpicking is used in the game as a reward for careful exploration when stealing is more used in a rogue mood.
  • That fighting trees are shared with warrior, they should be different.
  • Beside having their own fighting trees, rogues should have a third fighting tree.
  • That there wasn't a third Rogue companion, when you replay multiple time the game it becomes less fun to have to always choose among only two companions to fill the mandatory role of Rogue. Well a switch between Stealing and Lockpicking would solve partially this problem.
  • Most Archer special attacks should look more different and more spectacular (or should be more visible). Archer needs something more spectacular.
  • Archer will be more fun with one or two more special attacks like Scattershot.
  • Archer talents require a long delay to work, there's no animation to fill the lost time (not like 2H attacks animations AFTER to have trigger a special attack) and many Archer attacks make sense if triggered fast. That makes very tedious to micro manage Archer and discourage to put more focus of them. I don't know how to to avoid too fast successive special attacks, but a solution need to be find to allow special attack with an immediate trigger and not an abuse of it. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/smile.png[/smilie]
  • Archer talents not fully well adapted to Rogue Talents. A Rogue Archer should take better profit from rogue talents. For Example:
    - Stealth should bring bonus to some Archer Talents,
    - or even some Archer Talents could require Stealth.
    - Deadly Strike should work with long range weapon and yes at long range too.
    - Evasion could replace or add chance of evading missile when a long range weapon is used.
    - Lethality critical should work for long range too.
    - Coup De Grace should give plus to long range too.
    - Combat Movement could add some attack bonus to long range only.
  • Archer talents not fully well adapted to Assassin and Duelist Specialization Talents, same problem than point above.
  • Archer requires a clear reading of oponents characteristics (armor/speed/defense/...) and the game doesn't offer enough information about this.
  • Bows and Crossbows don't have runes, not fun. If that means balance breaking then add runes for bows and low down something else.

Q: Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Rogue?

R:
Underpowered:
  • Archer class seems underpowered but that's a difficult point, long range attacks are in fact overpowered from a tactics point of view:
    - Pick a party of long range with only one member with some fair aggro and close range defense and you get the more easy team to manage.
    - It's partially due of enemies using almost all long range (good point) but not beeing enough grouped in responses of long range attack.
    - For example, one long range enemy attacked should know retreat to attract the party in range and focus of enemies in same group. Or some strong long range enemy group should move forward if possible to fire back when one member in this enemy group is attacked.
  • Archer seems underpowered when thrown in a party close fighting. Their support seems bellow the average because of the lack of support and/or ability to distract enemy with aggro.
  • Archer seems underpowered because it's not clear what they bring in comparison with a mage using long range. In fact I only used Archer to have a companion with some Rogue talents or skills and in fact mainly for lockpick.
Overpowered:
  • Well for me the Rogue class isn't overpowered. I have read many comments about how rogue powerbuild do much more dps but powerbuild isn't my cup of tea, dps isn't all, and with more normal builds rogues have plus but also minus even when compared to warriors.
  • The only point would be their ability in last part of the game to continue improve defense when strengh warrior don't have such ability with armor. But it's more a point underpowered for warriors.

Q: What are your favorite Rogue specializations? What are your least favorite?

R:
Favorite Rogue specializations:
  • Like a lot pets so Ranger is my favorite, with Archer or Dual Weapons. I like many points but would like some fix to sumoned pets:
    - That they don't disapear during an area change or at least that the talent cooldown is reset to allow immediate summon.
    - Summons tactics should be saved and memoried for each PC that can summon.
    - All skills should be available in shortcut bar, instead of only in tactics.
    - At least one summon should have excellent stealth ability.
    - A setup in tactics should allow cast a summon if none already summoned, and to cast next summon avialable at current summon death.
    - Ranger summons are a bit overpowerful but I think it should be kept like that.
  • All other 3 specializations are cool too. Too small points:
    - Perharps bard should get a third song or a more special talent instead of the talent Distraction that looks too much to any other talents, appart the mental resistance but that's a bit short.
    - Perhaps Duelist Talent, Upset Balance, is too similar to many other Talents already available to Rogues.
Less favorite Rogue specializations:
  • None even if bard and duelist could perhaps get a bit of improvement, see above.

Q: What are your favorite Rogue talent trees? What are your least favorite?

R:
Favorite Rogue talent trees:
  • Dual Weapon and Rogue trees. Not much to say, well done, only Stealing should be switch with Lockpicking for the sake of other classes.
Less favorite Rogue talent trees:
  • Archer, see answers to previous questions for details. In short it needs better gameplay, better visuals, more diversity, a bit more efficiency, some runes.

I love duelist. Echo the sentiments about gear not being particularly great...
Wasn't overly fond of the fact that backstab always, even with the best gear, seemed wimpy. I wanted to see a good backstab, by a high level rogue "end-it" right there.

Also, with Rogues, it took WAY too long to become bad-ass. If a rogue could be bad-ass (like a level 20) by level 17, it would have given you some time to enjoy your bad-assness. But instead, it felt like, all the investment to get your guy good, resulted in the game ending.

Likes:

Cunning and backstabbing ftw.

Dislikes:

The lack of decent hoods and leather armor. Where's the love for the shadowy rogue archetype? Or even the type of rogue who'd do his best to blend in with "normal" characters by wearing commoner/nobleman's clothing; the diplomat with weapons.

I'd love for there to be more use of the Sneak ability outside of combat. A rogue in shiny platemail managing to sneak up and backstab a target is a bit... odd as well.

The rogue class is not really all that over/under-powered, except from the afor mentioned wear-anything deal.

Favorite rogue talent tree is the lock-picking. Best specialization is Assassin.

Agreed that just because WoW does something doesn't mean it's a good idea.

That said, splitting the archers off in a sequel might be. With the current system and classes, going as an archer means that getting useful class-specific talents requires blowing points on earlier melee-oriented parts of the tree regardless of whether you're a Warrior or a Rogue. An actual archer class might allow for more archer-oriented talent trees (possibly with some talents that are similar to existing Rogue and/or Warrior talents, such as Lethality) while also being capable of providing the Rogue utility functions (lockpicking, scouting, etc) if the player invests in those areas.

This would require some splitting of specialisations, of course - I'd guess Ranger and Bard would go to the archer and Assassin and Duellist to the rogue.

Mind you, a simpler option may be to add some more archer-friendly class talent trees to the Warrior and Rogue, although in the latter's case this may exacerbate the existing multi-talent dependencies.

Hello! I'm going to put in my two cents :D

What do you like and dislike about the Rogue?

-Likes: My first playthrough was rouge and he is my favorite character. I love the Dual wield, picking chest, Damage per second can be really good with back attack and fast weapons. I guess that is true for majority of the thief classes.

-Dislike: Armor, OH GOD! Its not fair I tell you. I stood among my team mates wearing a skirt! Ali decked out in warden breastplate and little oghren in the blood dragon armor and here I am in a leathery shirt. No thank you. The armor needs some serious upgrading. I was damaging with the best of them but overall I lost at cool points. Give us a hat, leather chest pieces, bone harnesses or anything but that thing i was stuck in. :pinched:

Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Rogue?

Not sure. I wish those Venom enchanments lasted longer. Was a drag on the 360 to keep clicking it once it wore.

What are your favorite Rogue specializations? What are your least favorite?

Ranger (I love my upgraded spider) and Assassign. Duelist is not too bad. I did not like bard as my main specialization. It is the way I play.my rouge was rather violent and choose not to be the "support role" I left that to Zevran or Leliana.

What are your favorite Rogue talent trees? What are your least favorite?

Favorite: Coup de grace. Nothing beats ponding the darkspawn after a shield bash or when a 2HND user stuns the mob. Free hits all around:wub:

Least: Fiegn Death and stealth. I guess its just the way I played. I was always in the fray. I played my rouge like a light armored warrior lol.

The only thing I really disliked about the rogue was the 'play dead' talent (I can't remember its name). I just never found a use for it. I haven't used stealth, so I might be missing out on a lot there. The rogue really holds it's own as a front-line fighter in the mid-to-end game. In fact, my first rogue was my tank in that game. His high DEX score made him virtually untouchable. So, maybe a little overpowered, but that's due to the mechanics of DEX rather than the rogue class.

The think I like most about the rogue, as I mentioned in the warrior feedback topic, is that only the rogue can pick locks. I know it was a controversial decision, but it having each class focus on a specific area encourages people to play the different classes. I like this decision. I would never have played a rogue otherwise, and it was great fun. Unlike others, I don't think that device mastery should be a skill rather than a talent.

Favourite rogue specialisations are Assassin and Duelist. Bard I'm playing about with for the first time at the moment, so can't really comment. Ranger doesn't appeal to me and I'm not sure I'll even give it a try. There just doesn't seem to be anyting special there for me.

My favourite talent trees for the rogue is the dual-wield three. It makes for a powerful rogue when specced properly. My least favourite is the archery tree. In general, archery seems to be really underpowered until the end game. The lack of rune slots in the bows adds to this.

I love playing mages, but I think my rogue playthrough was my favourite so far. Great fun! Don't change anything.

Lack of emphasis on knives (since swords do not suit the class), lack of unique equipment (unless you want to ruin the character by giving them ridiculous str.)

This is due to aethetic reasons, for example if a user wnated to make a decent stealth/assasination themed character then it i only practical for them to use weaponry that can be hidden rather easily.
This is where knives could fit in because they are much easier to hide on your body than a pair of longswords >_>

I'm not syaing that the duel wielding is a bad idea but perhaps you could offer the rogue players a variety similar to the warriors.

What I suggest is keeping the duel wield tree but also introducing one exclusivly for knives.
The emphasis of this could be a boost to backstabbing and sneak attacking by granting bonuses/passive abilities that would encurage rogue players to use this route.

Not sure there really is a point in boosting the dagger-rogue.. As they are already far superior to the sword-rogue.

What do you like and dislike about the Rogue?
Rogue are very flexible and great all-arounders. Both dual wield spec and archery work well and are fun to play. The downside for rogue is that they have to invest valuable skill points in the tool ability in order to open chests. Furthermore stealth currently seems rather useless, being able to position your rogue and strike the first blow is handy, other then that it really doesn't seem worth putting points in.

Most important rogue's seem to have a very limited choice in armor compared to warriors. I'd love to see some more and especially different looking armors.

Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Rogue?

Damage-wise rogue are doing fine, both dual wield and archery provide great dps. Dualwield sometimes feels a tad overpowered, especially if you get a good amount of stamina/stam regen. Archery seems to get allot better once you get into the higher levels with enough dexterity to prevent constant misses.

What are your favorite Rogue specializations? What are your least favorite?
My favorite specialization is dualist, it's a great addition to any dual wielding rogue with both passive and activated abilities. My least favorite is ranger, adding the pet is fun at first but other then that becoming a ranger doesn't have any worthwhile abilities.

What are your favorite Rogue talent trees? What are your least favorite?
My favorite talent tree is dual wield, it's a great mix of abilities that works really well albeit feeling a bit overpowered at times. My least favorite is the rogue tree. As I mentioned stealth is mostly useless, the only abilities worth taking (besides tools) seem dirty fighting, combat movement and lethality.

"What I want is for BioWare's designers to make their specializations more hands on. I do not want to feel like a passive observer, and assassin does just that. Manuevering behind a target and flaliling away all the time gets old fast." ~ Seagloom

My thoughts exactly , active abilities much like they are with mages need to be applied to warriors and rogues alike giving them greater versatility, depth and thus increasing the overall strategic base of the game. With simple passive and sustainable abilities though indeed helpful they lack any user to game interaction due to the unbalanced ratio of active to passive, equating to boredom.

On a side note, it felt as if the designers for the rogue gear ran out of time or something, could they not add a variety to the leather armours? They were all the same with a few exceptions such as shadow of the empire which merely had a darker colour scheme. Might i add the felon's coat(i assumed it was actually going to look like a coat) as expensive as it was, it was greatly underwhelming in appearance (Right? Like expensive clothing good looks? Nay).

Poisons and traps, tho a skill seemed more viable to rogues than any other class... however they were extremely useless. It would be just as effective to charge in with a high dex rogue and swiftly defeat your foes than set up a trap and lure them in as it doesn't really help all that much although its fun sometimes its not necessarily as strategic as said on paper.

An interesting class overall.....

I may be putting more criticism than anything else but it is nonetheless an honest opinion of the state of the game. Speculation is what i believe helps the game improve otherwise merely adding positive feedback assures the developers such areas need not be noticed.

I'm a little late to the party but I'd like to give my feedback anyway, because this is so far my favorite DA class.

What do you like and dislike about the Rogue?  First of all, I don't know what the reasoning was behind making Stealing a general skill instead of a rogue-specific one. And having done that, why not let everyone open locked chests as well?

I like that backstab is not an ability that needs to be triggered, but something that is executed as a matter of course when the rogue is positioned behind his target and well.... stabbing him.

Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Rogue?
The Rogue is a fun class to play as a whole and I always thought that if something was fun to play, then it's most probably overpowered. Whatever you do, please don't take away the fun factor.

What are your favorite Rogue specializations? What are your least favorite?
Most favorite = Ranger. Least favorite = Duelist (not that I don't like it; I just thought the other three were more valuable)

What are your favorite Rogue talent trees? What are your least favorite?
Favorites = Deft Hands and Stealth. Least favorite = Dirty Fighting.  I never felt the need to use Feign Death since 1) my tank can usually hold aggro and 2) even if he loses aggro, it works out better to kite a boss while the rest use range attacks rather than to feign death and risk turning the mob on the mage.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
I like the fact that you can pickpocket someone and steal from their chests BUT why don't the NPC's care when I do it right under their noses? I think stealth should be a bigger factor when opening a chest that belongs to someone else when that person is in the same room and especially within your line of sight.

The only time I ever felt that Stealth was important was on the quest in Denerim where you're supposed to steal Loghain's crown.  If you go in with low Stealth, you can't get near the guy and your only choice is to kill your way in. But with high Stealth, you can get close enough to pick it from his pocket.

I love to play a rogue.
As for the specializations, I would love to love the ranger but cannot even play one because

- for me beeing a ranger means beeing an archer too
Currently however it makes no sense for me to play a ranged character as compared with a a dual-wield rogue with "Momentum" an archer does too little damage.
And you cannot upgrade a bow with runes.
Plus the cooldown of "Arrow of Slaying" is too long

- the summons do not persist on area transition and the cooldown for summoning is too long to call them anew before the fights are (almost) over
I have tried with a mod that should make the animal persist on area transition and that worked - but then I suddenly had 2 or 3 animals at my side which felt like cheating.

The most fun I've had in the game was playing a dual-wielding rogue with a pet. You don't "have to" be an archer to be a ranger in this game so why let other games' rules hinder you here?

The rogue class is fine by me. I like the fact that rogues are able to backstab with a critical hit as mostly they are stealthy. Rogues also use range weaponries such as bows and crossbows. They are great basically.

I dislike that rogues' limited skill range and weapons. There are surely alot more weapons that rogues can use, not for strength but for dexterity.

My favorite is the assassin. But I don't think rangers summon animals to assist them, I think that more of a job of a tamer.

Basically, I like to see more rogue's talents such as dexterity-related and cunning-related. More specializations of course. More weapons for them, cause if I am not wrong, rogues also could wield two handed weapon but not the heavy weapons, weapons such as staff, light ones. This skill range should be different from the warriors two handed talent
