Just wondering in what order you do the main quests? And if there is a reason you do them that way?

Orzammar is the best to do last because it has a level-cap for enemies.

I usually start with the Circle, then go to Redcliffe, then Dales. After this, you can pretty much take on any quest you want.

I side with the mages so they can help out with redcliffe storyline. I also want wynne as my healer early as well as some tower loot.

leaving Lothering I go to camp. From there I head to Honleath to pick up Shale. Then I go to the Circle to get the Fade Stat Boost. Shale intimidates the smartmouthed Templar at the dock to take us to the tower in a funny exchange. Next stop is the Warden's Keep. After that you should be strong enough to go anywhere.

DLC immediately after Lothering then Circle for Wynne, Denerim side quests, Orzammar until Oghren joins, then Urn, Brecilian, finish Orzammar and then Redcliffe. That way all the companions are in the party and leveling under adult supervision instead of being autoleveled by the game.

I think it really depends on the person playing the game, so whatever you think might work for you is the way to go.

I personally start with Circle Tower and then make my way to Orzammar, after picking up Shale. I run through all of the quests there then hit the main quest. Once I finish it (it is hard, but if you have Wynne and good tactics, you should be good...) I head to the Brecilian Forest and last, I run to Redcliffe, completing all of the quests there (including Urn quest).

Now, between each of these, I do run to Denerim and knock out all of the quests there. I also work on companion quests.

It really does depend on you. There is no "have to" order. Mine has been after Lothering, Shales side quest, Wardens Keep, Redcliffe, then up to Circle for "cure" to Connor, then side quests in Denerim, Urn for Arle's cure, Dale and the Orzammar. So you see, everyone has a different path.

Lately I've been jumping around all over the place and doing side quests first to build up money.  This way I can get some high priced items early.  But I prefer going to Cricle of Magi first usually.  You get the attribute bonuses and Wynne.  I also like to get Shale either before or after, usually before.

I've been hitting Orzammar ealry too.  It helps to get your levels up quicker I think, but I just like doing the deep roads section.  I think it's probably one of the funnest parts of the game.

Warden's Peak would be good to hit if you wanna use the party chest and some good gear.

Thanks for the feedback. My first playthrough I did Urn, then Forest, then Circle and it was hard. I am new to RPGs though so am just learning leveling and tactics. I think I am going to try getting Shale and then going to the Circle for Wynne.

I like mixing up the order simply so i can take different companions on some of the quests to get their take on things. For me, its the characters that increase the pleasure of re-play. Part of me wishes that some of the endings were strictly random so i didn`t pre-plot my relationships based on the ending I want to experience, but wyah wyah wyah, I can stop whining about that right about now. :) There is a lot of talk about the optimal `build or order, but some of the most fun i have had so far is when I broke the rules a bit. I have failed spectacularly at times too -- but some situations were just too good to have missed for doing it with the `perfect`team, or best order.

I have always tried to balance out my party, and just tried, for a lark -- me ( tank) alistair ( also tank) Sten ( 2H warr) and Morrigan ( quasi spec-ed as healer in a pinch) and i was SO surprised, nary a scratch did we bare... plus, Sten seems to like me now. :D

I like to do the dlc first - then the Circle for Fade bonuses and Wynne - then Orzammar until I get Oghren. This gives me all the companions, to build them up, talk to them, do their quests etc. I don't finish Orzammar at this point, I leave and do side quests and companion quests.

Next in the mains (I've done it differently, but this is now what I prefer) I do the Forest. Then back to Orzammar, then the Urn. Leave Redcliffe till last - and since I already have the Urn I can just do it and cure Eamon in one shot. Then straight off to Landsmeet, hehe.
