I have joined this site today.
I have played Bioware games since BG1.
I was complaining about the piracy of the RTO dlc...
I had the topic locked apparently because I mentioned the word "piracy". I explicitly condemned the practice in my post.
I know there is no such thing as free speech after signing up for the contract, but isn't this a little excessive? When does it become simply silencing discussion?
Is it okay to post a negative appraisal of parts of a game or... anything?
Is this not that kind of place?

What sort of response are you hoping to get on this topic?
I tried checking out the thread in question, but you have edited the OP, so it's impossible for anyone who stumbles across this thread to judge whether your complaint has any merit. It makes it look as if you've got something to hide, and we're supposed to take your word for it that you don't.
I can only guess what you said in the locked thread, but I find it hard to fault Bioware for wanting to quash something that could be considered an oblique advertisement of something that's detrimental to their bottom line. And the fact is, the Social Network is not a democracy, it's a public service being run by a company. If you want to play here, you have to play by their rules.
By posting in the forums, in fact, you have tacitly agreed to play by their rules.

Of course.
But when does mentioning something become "condoning".
I did edit that post. However, as the moderator intimated - he would have shut it down for simply mentioning the fact that there was a pirate copy of what was in question.
So the point is moot.
Is complaining about piracy actually wrong because it makes us aware it exists?
It seems silly, and is rather excessive.

I'd like to ask what you hope to achieve by complaining about piracy in this forum? I daresay such complaints would have even less preventative efficacy than Securom. In fact, the end result is likely to be just the opposite. Nobody will ever decide not to use pirated software just because you complained about it; but the complaint itself is likely to draw attention to that which you claim to condemn.
Sound farfetched?
Case in point: I for one was not even aware that the pirated software in question existed ... until I ran across this thread. So in that sense, both the locked thread and this one have been effective in advertising the existence of said pirated software. If I were the sort of person who consider pirated software an option, your efforts today would have resulted in one less sale for Bioware.
No, it doesn't mean you're condoning piracy; but it may mean you're unwittingly exacerbating the problem. Bioware is well within their rights to do as they're doing, and while their actions may seem excessive to you, I hope you'll forgive me for saying it seems equally excessive to frame this as a "free speech" issue.

You never heard? How convenient.
The essence of my original post was that it was becoming increasingly difficult to go to any site based on this game without being flooded with details of a supposedly unreleased expansion. As in content, plot, items, etc.
I didn't want to know about this... so I guess, as you point out, I may be committing the same "crime" by mentioning this fact.
However, simply bemoaning the fact that all the details of every facet of this game seems to be handed around every ultra-common site, such as GameFAQS, has become, ummm, an illegal post, seems a bit weird...
I understand if you disagree... er, sir? Y'know, you really have the right picture...
