Evening All - Completed the Dwarf and Elf quests and now have them as allies but now I want to complete the mages tower quests and I have talked to Knight Commander Greigor and went through his stuff but the doors for the tower wont open. I cant get into the tower at all. Just to Greigor and the Quartermaster. Does anyone know if this is a glitch or is it possible not to go into the mages tower and still complete the game? Really wanted to get Wynne but ti appears I wont be able to do so. Thanks for the insight.

This happened to me.
On my first playthrough I botched the "save the Enchanter" thing, so on my second I was trying to be really careful when I talked to Greagoir, thinking that perhaps something I had said previously might have caused it (I was wrong, but regardless...).
As a result, the convo choices I made somehow made it such that he wouldn't open the door for me, and absolutely nothing I could say would fix it, essentially stopping the entire game in its tracks. Of course, like I have done many times in this game, I just reloaded a save from before I talked to him, and problem solved.
But I just thought I'd speak up about it since it is sort of a dialogue/plot dead-end.
