I know everyone has their own opinion, but I find it stunning how many people like Dragon Age 2. It was a decent game, but come on, you weren't bothered by the recycled zones over and over again?

People obviously don't pay attention to recycled areas in OTHER games if all they can do is complain about the everywhere-cave of DA2.

You learn to ignore the recycled areas....which is annoying.....but not as annoying as bad game mechanics, or bad plot, or graphic glitches, or game-breaking bugs, or .....

It's cool, I think it's kinda funny to be threatened over the internet to be honest.

Damn. I've never got one yet. I've occasionally triggered torrents of rabid hate, but no actual death threats.

I agree, DA2 was far worst than just recycled areas, it had a dumb, barely cohesive "plot"; shallow, one-note characters; and relatively lame gameplay.

The recycled areas didn't really bother me much. hell, ME2 is 1 of my favourite games & it's practically just 1 big warehouse all the way through with identical colour coded enemies but it didn't stop my enjoyment of it.

Oh boy this literally hasn't clicked with me until now - that the ME games (1 in particular I think) had nothing but recycled warehouses! I just completely forgot because all people ever complain about is the recycled areas of DA2. :P

Sometimes recycled areas annoy me, but other times I actually quite like it. It makes me feel a little bit extra prepared for whatever's coming. And for someone like me who can be a bit of a wuss, that's a good thing.

Obviously I'd prefer unique areas, though. Recycled areas speaks to me of budget and/or time issues.

Yes how DARE you create threads and have opinions and discuss things with other Bioware fans. How. Dare. You!

I don't pre order games unless the bonuses are really worth it. The only thing keeping me from leaving Bioware is the story of the games. Gameplay is secondary for me. I hate FPS but I like Bioshock's story so I buy all their products.

As long as the people in Bioware keep the story interesting and don't make it overly long like say, the Assassin's Creed series, then I will still buy their product.

Also, it probably won't hurt to change up the formula for Bioware plots. I don't want to have to "gather an army" or "find artifacts" or "build some superweapon by finding pieces scattered across the globe" or anything like that every time I play a Dragon Age game.

I want suspense. I want the story to keep a lot of unknowns and answer them one by one, not just lay out the entire game in front of me after the first 15 minutes of the game. Please stop doing that. I don't want my quest journal to be a "checklist" containing all the necessary or "main" quests right at the get-go.

I feel you :( had an Aizen account follow me from thread to thread saying I should fall on a knife(toned down) etc. Kind of hard to take the BSN version of a 12yr old on xbox live seriously though

On topic, there has yet to be a bioware game I've played that I don't like. The ending of ME3 was meh for me because by the time I got around to it the extended cut was out. Plus I ended it with the citadel DLC so that probably contributes to my lack of hatred towards the end. This game doesn't have to make or break, simply just follow the formula. Medium-good plot and amazingly well written characters.

Inquisition isn't really a make or break game for me but I appreciate that one of the big reasons so much work is being put into it is because it is for many people.

I actually really liked Dragon Age 2. ToR was a disappointment though, that much is for sure. ME3 could have been better but I say that about a lot of games.

Thus far, the only time I've ever found myself playing something BioWare made and was fighting with myself to complete was when I played Awakenings and The Darkspawn Chronicles, because much of it felt like a development afterthought. BUT, since Origins is so fantastic and I loved DA2 as well as the entire Mass Effect series, it's a very minor disappointment in what is otherwise a body of work that has consumed countless hours of my time. I came into this RPG thing after Mass Effect 3's ending was revised and the Citadel DLC was released, so I'm not soured by its ending like many others were. I don't usually preorder anything unless it's a product that's made in very limited quantities and I'd like to get it quickly, but I'd be willing to make an exception for Inquisition. I've been itching to get a hold of this game after playing and replaying the previous games.

Not to mention barely there sidequests. "You found some pantaloons, go return them to the marked fellow in Hightown" is not a quest.

What I tend to think of BioWare is: they're not that good (as gaming journalists acclaim), but they're not that bad (as "haters" -- for want of a better term -- would have you believe) either. When it comes down to it, they're still one of the only game developers that makes games that I truly enjoy playing, whereas others games always lack ~something~ for me to really love them.

So, my answer to the OP is "no," especially since neither DA2 nor ME3 changed what I already believed about BW.

In fact, I actually enjoyed those titles more than their predecessors!

I was bothered when I first started playing but then as I got into the game and started to enjoy it and it stopped bothering me. All games have something that bothers me, but if I enjoy the other aspects of the game then I can get used/ignore the things that bother me.

Stuff like ME1s bunker that was on every planet or the limited number of tactics you can give a companion in DA:O all bothered me in the beginning but they got over shadowed by aspects of the game I enjoyed.

That's fair, though for many (myself included) there was so much wrong with DA2 that the game quickly reached the point past which I found it impossible to enjoy anything about it. That's obviously a shame for me and actually does a great disservice to the good work of those who's efforts were completely undermined by the rushed nature of the final product.

Well, in the hopefully unrealistic event that DAI turns out to be a terrible game, I'll probably have to skip the next game from the DA team (or at least wait until it's on sale for 5$).

ME3 was the breaking point for me, but this only means that I won't buy the next ME game or the new game from the ex-ME team.

The DA team has not disappointed me yet. Yes, DA2 had a lot of flaws, but I still enjoyed it and I can appreciate what it tried to do.

I like DAO, DA2 and the Mass Effect series. I think ME3 was the best game in that series. First I hated the ending because I would have wanted the happy ending where Shepard would have lived happily ever after with his/her love interest. When time went on I thought that that would have been quite lame ending fot the series. So I have started to like that ending and I can't think any better way to end it. Now I'm just waiting a Mass Effect game that is a sequel to that trilogy :)

I have never pre-ordered anything but I have been thinking to pre-order DA:I because I have liked Bioware's previous games and I don't believe that they can fail so badly that I would end up hating the game. If that would happen then I might not pre-order their next game or buy any DLCs for that game. The thing is that there isn't any other games that I like so much. Even if there are flaws like repetitive environments in DA2. I still enjoyed it.

It isn't for me.

I loved DAO and I really liked DA2. I'm currently replaying both in anticipation for DAI. I also loved ME1-3, although I wasn't a fan of the ending. It hasn't hampered my desire to replay it them though.

I think that if a fan has a legitimate grievance with Bioware, then it seems only right that they voice their concerns and approach any future games cautiously. Like any business, Bioware needs to earn their consumer's respect and trust in order to earn their money and loyalty.

I also think some fans exaggerate or get a little too passionate. There are plenty of people who claim that they have no faith in Bioware yet, two years later, they are still actively involved in DAI discussions. Perhaps a part of them wants the game to succeed, even if they don't quite believe it will.

I really like what I'm hearing about DAI so far, and I hope that those who have been disillusioned in the past find the game they've been looking for in DAI.
