I know this has obviously been discussed in the previous forums and obviously given the uneven track record of game to movie adaptations it is a some what loaded topic of conversation. But after seeing the new launch trailer I feel the Mass effect universe might have enough depth and emotion overall to actually make for a compelling movie script. Further more the time seem right following a hugely successful Sci-Fi movie in Avatar. I figured I would make a post and see what everyone else’s thoughts are regarding this.

...Why? Just why? It's already something like a movie with digital actors. It'd be redundant, at best.It also couldn't involve Shepherd or the story arch goin' on in the trilogy at all, as players decide how that narrative plays out. Can't have a movie setting a canon.

Also, Avatar was a ridiculous amalgamation of cliches. Worst movie in recent memory for me.

Like I stated in another thread.

It would have to be about one of the wars such as the First Contact War, Rachni Wars, or Krogan Rebellion. It would have to have no mention of Shepard what so ever.

Only if it doesn't involve Shepard. Preferably it would be a prequel so the choices our Shep's make aren't compromised by a plot that accommodates all the drastically different endings.

Maybe something involving Nihlus, or more Anderson. That would be pretty schweet.

I heard they were making a Mass Effect movie. Was from I think the Playstation magazine(weird right). Could be false but look out for 2011 if true

I can see Chiwetel Ejiofor as a young Anderson.

Mass Effect could make a great movie trilogy, if it was done right, had the right financial backing, and a good cast, writer and director. The problem with many movies adapated from games is that they don't have all of those things, and all we get is a lousy movie made on the cheap, with the producers hoping to capitalize on the game's popularity.

EDIT: If it were adapted to a movie I hope they also go with a male Shep. Sorry, but female action heroines are rarely believeable, and the studio would no doubt cast someone based on their looks rather than their athleticism. She'd look more like a runway model than a Marine.

I'd just stare at the screen the whole time and then yell, "Where was FemShep!?" at the end.

After i saw the game launch trailer i say HELL YEAH, we need epicness back on our sci fi minds. Star wars and star trek were amazing for us as children (most of us) but we need to get back that feeling that space is the final frontier back again and dream like little boys we were which ME has done, it has awoken our inner dreamer again.

Enought CSI's copies, enought doctors series! We want proper epic sci fi! I say AYE make a movie but dont fail us! Make all the merchandising you must but stay true to the origins, make us dream of space again...

Not really, this is just a duplicate thread of the one I created 4 days ago which has that exact same IMDB link in it.

Mass Effect, as a franchise, is an absolute GOLDMINE for future books, movies, etc. Sooo much story, background, for people to draw from.

But it would be EXTREMELY difficult for even a good directer/producer to make the actual trilogy of games into a movie counterpart.

The sole reason I fear a Mass Effect movie is because there is noone I feel would be able to hold true to ME's dialogue, and it would become just another crapola game to movie make-fast-cash scheme.

The reason I want a Mass Effect movie (or even a tv series) is because I have friends and family who LOVE a good sci fi story, but dont like games.

A Mass Effect Movie would have to be about 20h long, just for the first part. ;)

Ultimatly, cmes down to the usual things....

great game = who directs and writes = is it any good = dont let Boll anywhere near the project.
