Hey everyone, I'd just like to offer my services of voice acting should any modders require a vocie actor.

I also invite anyone else interested in doing some voice acting to post here so modders can find people easily :)

If you'd like a demo, shoot me a message with a brief descritpion of the character and perhaps a few lines along with your email.

Cheers and best of luck to all,

-Deacon

EDIT: Some suggested lines for anyone interested in doing some voice samples - Feel free to join the voice actors guild and upload your samples!  http://social.bioware.com/group/146/

EDIT Oct.16th: MY voice samples of these lines can now be downloaded here: http://social.biowar...ject/239/#files

Warrior:

#1: No more innocent victims. I will not stand by and watch my people suffer, waiting for the next onslaught! I vow vengeance upon the blight… WHO IS WITH ME?

#2: The enemy has no honor. They are little more than crazed animals with no understanding or respect for the value of life. The blight are not creatures, they are a disease upon the land…

#3: There’s no turning back… tonight, we send the blight back to oblivion!

Rogue:

#1: Nothing a pair of quick hands and nimble fingers can’t handle!

#2: Trust me; I do this all the time… oops.

#3: Your sword against my dagger – we’ll see which blade’s the better dancer.

Wizard:

#1: Something terrible happened here. I can sense it. Whatever it was… it has left a tainted echo through the ages…

#2: It is not a spell I am familiar with, but we don’t have much of a choice, do we?

#3: You tamper with magic you cannot possibly understand… but you will learn to FEAR.

I can do amateur voice acting as well, although my voice does not sound nearly as good to me as I think it ought to.

Also interested in providing some quality voice acting for any and all mods. Have some experience with voice acting and can be best described as a deep and intense voice actor .... no high pitched elves or flimsy humans here. =)

Just shoot a message if you are looking for any additions to your mod. Thanks DeaconX for starting thread.

While I've not VA'd a character before I've done some actual acting, and am actually involved in an (amateur, let's not lie) production now. Two points worth considering.

1: I am very very English. Thusly in the context of DA:O, it's better that I would speak as a Ferelden.

2: If I get into things I start sounding like Brian Blessed.

Regardless, I'm more than happy to contribute to anyone who wants the services of a bizarre Brit.

A good idea for this DeaconX is for you to create a 'group' for this. Threads tend to get pushed down the forums but if you use the 'group' feature it will be easier to have the group grow with voice actors and people wanting to voice act or looking for voice actors will be looking at 'groups'. (Have a look at the group I created called 'The Cutscene Creators Guild' to see what a group looks like.

This could be a great resource for modders, having almost an unlimited amount of voices to choose from (depending on how many volunteers for the voice pool).

That's what I'm hoping :) and I do want to encourage voice acting in community created modules.  A poll someone was running showed most people really want voice, even in modules so there is demand.

How about, on each of your profiles you put a sample of your previous voice acting showing what you are capable of.

heh. I don't have any samples, but if "the movies" website is still floating around search for Reebdoog and you'll hear me do some silly stuff. Not so much serious...but...meh, I'm flexible. ^_^

*edit* looks like it's gone. hmm.. I'll see what I can do.

I might give it a try. I don't consider myself a good voice actor, but it's fun. I'm English, for all that counts.

Are any samples actually posted yet?

I could only upload so much so I played around with my voice using a program called Audacity, just to manipulate the pitch here and there :) Glad you enjoyed it though! Posted Image

I don't think the deeper voices would work in a game environment, unfortunately.

I wouldn't modify the pitch. The idea of the samples is to give the casting director a realistic view of your range and abilities. Electronic manipulation should only be done during the post production process of a module by the sound editor to create equal quality for the module, not by the person who is submitting the material. There are some exceptions, but the point of that project is to aid casting. If you want to create another project with examples of how pitch shifting, reverb, EQ, and other effects can be applied to enhance and change a sample, that's not a bad idea, but that's not what the project I created was intended for.

Both my microphone and voice are pretty bad at the moment (my voice is strained from singing cute pop songs this morning), but I will post up a sample.

When I first downloaded your voice sample, DeaconX, I was expecting a comedy. I was all set to laugh at what I thought would be a rather paltry performance. But I was pleasantly surprised. I can actually imagine you voicing characters in games.

I still have the unmodified version, but the file hosting for the group is quite limited so I may just pop it on youtube or something and post a link to it.

Yeh, I thought the file hosting might become a problem. It might be an idea to create an indexed list in excel or something with links to people's samples and upload that.
