Hello everyone - it's midday around here, so I wish you a good lunch in advance. Today's picture is one you should not watch during lunch, mostly because it's... ugly. I'll redo the subject today and edit the post appropriately.

Warning: Today's picture shows a creature which is not only on the larger side, but also very ugly and... naked. It's not only NSFW or however this is called, but also... not really safe for... anything.

Image IPB

Okay, Broody. She isn't exactly the easiest thing to draw, but that is not really an excuse for the crappiness that is this picture. So, well... I would like you to give me some criticism. Especially on how to get rid of that &$%§&# glow around the Broodmother. I thank you for it in advance, it's very much appreciated.

EDIT: Here is the other picture I mentioned. It's a little better (I think)... but still nowhere the point I actually wanted it to go. Well... I'm neither Reuben nor Evolvana nor the other artists, thus unfortunately rather bad. Back to practising.

Thanks for the good reception of the Broodmother - she is certainly a... not so pleasant sight. To ease your mind (and bleach your eyes), I have something cuter for you. :wizard:

A Bronto! And an unspecified butterfly! They are experiencing the tiniest friendship ever. After all that Darkspawn, I figured the time for some peaceful wildlife was due - and the Bronto was to be done anyway. The picture itself is nothing special... a butterfly sitting on a rather large horn of a rather large creature. Hopefully he doesn't get eaten.

Every time I see this thread title I think, "Why thank you, you're too kind."

Dear Creature 1,

Eh... well... I understand what you mean and I have to apologize for my lack of language skills. With that I wanted to say that everyone is free to post his own pictures, but I had problems translating that offer from my mother tongue into English. I changed it.

I am sorry that I have bothered or possibly even offended you or anyone else looking inside the thread.

Thank you for the irony, anyway... it made me smile even though it was well-deserved criticism. :)

@ Chateau:

I think Creature1 was just trying to be silly, you know because her forum name is the same as your thead title.  I don't think she was offended by your thread title at all.  Image IPB

And I love your bronto and butterfly.  Perfect for Valentine's Day.  I can see they are starting a beautiful relationship. hehe. Image IPBImage IPB

Yes, being silly!

I like the bronto, and I think the last thing on its mind is eating the butterfly. It probably is so nearsighted it can't even see it!

Okay, I'm relieved ^^ Sorry for running around like a mad chicken, it was just a moment of "Wuh? Oh, damn!" for me and I thought someone would try and straighten my hairline with a small hammer. It's a little strange to find the right words. Even though I had English in school, the only thing you never learn is English for daily use... so, I'm sorry.

And as an apology, I have a picture of an Abomination.

Image IPB

It looks a little like a ball of wool Cthulhu had approved of if he were into knitting, but it is indeed an abomination. The blotchy look is again the product of my experiment line "Chateau Migraine learns how not to do Digital Art"... I wanted to make it seem like someone who has never touched watercolors before try to color an image of a creature he had encountered that day.

Well... Sorry for the double post, but I have something for you again. Today's picture is a little more floral and is starring...

The Grand Oak! I recently played through the Brecilian Forest for the first time (I'm slow) and was very intrigued by that poe-tree. In fact, I think he and his little baby acorn are funny, adorable even. In an insane way.

This picture shall depict him while imbuing the Acorn with a part of his energy to make it start growing. I somehow had the idea that while casting such a spell, a warm and friendly orange light would glow in his ribcage. Fatherly love, if you so desire. ^-^

I love the details you have on the grand oak! And the acorn! The grand oak has to be one of my favorite parts of the game.

I think you add a lot of your own imagination to some of these depictions, which I absolutely love.

Amethyst, flyingjudes, thank you for your nice comments! :D

I hereby present my... most complete picture as of yet... took me the last five days. As we have a sore lack of certain scaly, fire-breathing reptiles, I thought I'd do...

Image IPB

... a Drake. In my opinion, they are quite underrated. Having to fight to the death with their fellow Drakes in order to get it on with the High Dragon... who will probably "accidentally" crush him under her foot afterwards.
I thought the scene depicted would be a result of the completion of the Sacred Ashes quest. A village near Haven suddenly has a little surprise on a roof... a young, adventurous Drake. Get the arrows!

And for the artists among you: How do you get to draw fire without having it look like a cheap imitation of colored paper! Frustration! D:

Wow, I love that! Image IPB That is really nice.  I especially love the coloring and the detail in the hair and the stone in the building / ground.

You inspired me! I usually don't draw monsters, but it sounded like fun. So here's "Kingkiller"

Wow, now that's a scary big ogre! :o I like the angle, it makes the situation depicted seem more dangerous. He's really great! Thank you for contributing!

To continue, I decided to dig out the next old spirit thing after Shah Wyrd. Remember Ostagar and that quest with the Shade boss? The codex entry given is actually a very macabre, yet awesome story about a girl's love and a nature spirit - Gazarath. While it's clear that the developers couldn't give him an extra model because of their limited resources, he does look a little boring.

As I'm still screwing around to improve my still laughable digital art skills, I decided to do a piece with the image of Gazarath I had in mind. The pose is supposed to make him seem curled up into a kind of resting state. Ideas for the skin and the "spike-leaves" on his back are inspired by trees, the scales on his lower body should be flowers (and look rather weird now) and the tendrils spouting from them should resemble roots. After that, it still looked empty, so I added membranes between some roots and on his chin. He now looks like a tree toad.

Image IPB

Here he is, the tree toad Gazarath.

I'm sorry that I haven't posted in so long, but my university courses started and I don't have much time to get on the computer and scribble. As soon as I can, I will post something, but you are also invited to contribute any picture of creatures.

For now, I just have a butt-ugly scribble of Wynne's spirit.

Image IPB

Attention, spoiler - as you will most likely know, Wynne died at the attack of the Circle Tower and was revived by a benevolent spirit of the Fade inhabiting her body. As the spirit enhances her healing abilities, I think you could probably call it a spirit of Providence.

As for its looks, I had two things in mind. Firstly, I thought the spirit would approach Wynne looking like a thing of her past that she holds dear, that she cared for and maybe still does. As Wynne is mother to a son that was given to the Chantry, I figured it would be taking on the form of a headless templar - she never had the chance to even see her child, thus making it unlikely she knows how he looks like.
Secondly, a spirit that improves healing abilities most likely has the urge to guard the creatures around the body it inhabits and watch over his body at the same time. As such, the form of a knight is the one that suggests itself somehow.

I'll stop annoying you now with my boring explanations. There is probably a lot to criticize and I'll be very happy if you might have some constructive hints for me. :D
