Is anyone else getting random crashes? it just started today for me. I was playing the game last night for a good 6 hours without any problems but today i can only play for about 5-20 mins before it crashes. I know that there is a memory leak in the game but i find it hard to believe that is the problem because I had no problems last night and I changed nothing on my computer from last night. If anyone has any ideas the may help that would be most helpful.

I am getting the same thing. I can't even get past the first part. I'm loving the 64.99 I spent on this game right about now. It randomly crashes. Even the launcher randomly crashes. (I've shut down every unnecessary app running in the background and processes.)

Crashes for me once I go to Ostigar or whatever it is named crashes after about 20 seconds of running around. I turned the graphics down to low and I can get another 3-4 seconds out of it.

No errors, just crashes and I end up on desktop, and have to start game over.

Happened to me last night also.. I was thinking it was a heat issue.

Same, played yesterday for about 5 hours with no issues, and again today for 2-3 hours trouble free. Once I got to the plains north of Lothering it CTD'd 4 times in 10 minutes (rebooting twice). After progressing past that point I was able to go another 2 hours or so w/o crashing, to where I am now.

All temps are fine, monitoring via secondary during gaming (CPU ~40, GPU ~55). I ran through Mass Effect again while waiting for DA:O release and this rig didn't crash once during the entire ~60 hours, something's amiss methinks.

Was crashing (mostly during cut scenes) a lot - turning off SLI reduced the CTD by 95% for me.

Ive played for about 10 hour and had two reandom crashes to desktop with a dragonage.exe error.
Played today for a few more hours and no crashes to dekstop, but when i went to EXIT the game, it game me a dragonage.exe error haha. Not realy bothering me as now it seems to only give me a error CTD right when i hit the EXIT button on teh main menu, after im done playing.
last night though the CTD I had was in Lothering, just like "jsmile39" mentioned above.
So in the end, THe first 7 hours where fine, the next 2 hours after taht I had two CTD's (both in Lothering) and then two hours polaying today and no CTD's, except I get an error twice now when I go to EXIT the main menu.
Awesome game that runs very smooth and well, but these few errors are kinda annoying, hope Bioware fixes em!
- Intel Quad Core
- ASUS P5Q
- Nvidia Geforce EVGA 8800 GTS 512
- 3 GB of ram
- WIndows XP
- 2nd latest Nvidia graphics drivers
- Auzen sound card
I have over 50 games and none give me this error or others in the 2 years ive had this computer
Out of the latest games ive played
- Risen ive played for 70 hours and only had one random error
- Team Fortress2 has not given me an error in 2 years
- Crysis has never given me an error in 2 years
- Left4Dead has never given me an error
- Fallout3 has never given me an error
- Killing Floor has never given me an error
- Dawn Of Discovery has never given me an error
- EMpire Toatl War has never given me an error.
As you can see no other games give me this issue, so I hope Bioware comes up with an update soon!
I cant get enough of this game! Its extremely fun and runs very well for me, but the odd CTD is kidna annoying.

I installed and ran flawlessly yesterday, but today I get a crash when I try to launch. I had this issue with the Character Creator too when I first downloaded it. It worked fine first few days and then it started crashing when I tried to launch. Worked fine after a reinstall. But I'd rather not reinstall the game though.

Just like to add my name to the list for random DAOrigins.exe crashes to desktop. I noticed it during cutscenes mostly.
Also had an odd problem where the game's sound all of a sudden got very staticy (almost like a plug is loose or something), but when I closed the game all sound went back to normal. Worked fine after a reboot...not sure what it was, never happened before.

Thats the same error I get, no sound problems though. But yea the two time sit happened last night was in a chat.
Its wierd, the game runs perfect for 7 horus straight, then two crashes in 2 hours late last night with that DAOrigins.exe error.
Then today I play the game for 2 hours and no problems at all, except when I got to EXIT the main Menu after Im done playing! And I get the same error, very wierd.
Not gamebreaking for me, more annoyign then anything. But with all the people having this error, im sure they will fix it with a patch hopefully.

Game crashes at Ostigar within 10-14 seconds of loading the game. Can play fine until that location.

I was having random crashes and I started running the game as an administrator and haven't had one since (knock on wood). I don't know if it will help you guys, but it is worth a shot.

I've been able to get my game to launch. I think its an issue with monitor screen setting. At least for me. I've got a Dell 1920x1080p widescreen with hdmi connection. I went to the "Configure" in the launch screen and changed my "Video" setting from widescreen to normal and busted down resolution to 1280x1024. Saved and launched the game without crash and changed my video setting back to my original widescreen settings. So far no crashes. So I guess until its confirmed or sorted out, I'll be launching this way to play.
Hope this will work for anyone else having trouble.

ATI 4890 here, Windows 7-64, quad-core Phenom II - random freezes at random intervals - can even happen when tabbed out of the game. Requires a hard reboot.
One thing I noticed is that CPU temp is going way overboard even at high settings, whereas I can play any other game at highest settings with no issue/cpu heating up like that.
May be an ATI driver issue, seems the most likely culprit - not seeing anything in the system or application event logs.

Getting random crashes as well in the wilds mostly. Ostegar seems fine. I'm running a Geforce 9800+
Don't think its a heat related issue, my temps are within range (speedfan running to check when CTD)
