Im running this game on a month old desktop with a GTX 580 and i7 990x, why shouldn't I be frustrated knowing that I can't play Dragon Age: Origins?

If you would prefer to armflail and complain instead of playing the game, then please proceed. I was simply trying to point you in the direction of possible solutions.

My desktop is fairly similar to the one you have. Download the Forceware 275.33 drivers from the official website from NVIDIA.I have no problems at all playing DA: Origins, awakening or any download content.
My system specs:
i7980x
ASUS Rampage III Extreme
EVGA GTX 590
120GB OCZ SSD
750GB WD HDD
1000W Silverstone PSU
Note: From What I have checked there are still no drivers that can correct the low FPS for DA2. It works a lot better on AMD based cards

Just for clarity's sake, the 275.33 driver is not stable of for DAO or DA2. There is a NEWER beta that has been out less than a week in the 280 series that is stble for both and is stable for TW2. The 260.71 drivers also work fine for both DA games, but not TW2. None of these are associated with low fps, but with crashes to desktop in DX11. (Clarifying to correct misinformation. The issue for the person Heat Guy S replied to was resolved long ago and had nothing to do with his video drivers.)
I understand you want to provide help in this forum but just so you know, based on my experience the 275.33 Forceware drivers have worked on MY SYSTEM , therefore what I previously stated is not misinformation. As I mentioned before, I have a similar Processor and GPU as the previous user to whom I advised to use such drivers. If it has not worked for you, perhaps you have a different issue. Never did I state my troubleshooting as a universal solution to ALL users with CTD problems, I was specifically pointing a possible solution to a user with similar system specifications on DA:O and DA:A. Additionally, it is commonly accepted that AMD worked on the development Dragon Age 2 so the game is optimized to work better on AMD based cards, which translates to better FPS. I have tested the game in both an ATI/AMD 5970 and an EVGA GTX 590. Obviously the latter is faster, but 'tis not optimized to work with DA 2. As for the BETA 280.19 Drivers announced, I will be testing those today and see how it works for a few of my games (mostly from EA). Lastly, the Forceware 275.33 drivers are not BETA, they are officially WHQL.

Reviving a long dead thread to complain about drivers is still not terribly helpful. The problem issue for the poster you were trying to help was needing to set core affinity on his processor.

But if you think Setting the affinity of the CPU will solve everyone's problems then you are a bloody genius

My point was that resurrecting a dead thread was something less than helpful and your statements about the stability of the drivers for DA games was not entirely accurate.

I am sorry my sarcastic comments actually offended you .I thought this was a voluntary help forum for Dragon Age series fans to share multiple points of view about the game, different experiences and hypothesis to solve any game issues and improve overall gameplay experience. Perhaps this is not the forum.
It is, and it takes a whole lot more than a sarcastic comment to offend me. Please, help away. There are very few of us around here at the moment. The vast majority of people can find solutions to their problems in the Solutions Round-Up thread, but many people miss it or need help with the solutions themselves. Given the age of this game, there are very few truly new issues.
Multiple points of view are awesome. I was simply pointing out the fact that a) the poster's problem had been resolved and was not a driver issue,

Windows XP Minimum Specifications
OS: Windows XP with SP3
CPU: Intel Core 2 Single (or equivalent) running at 1.6Ghz or greater
AMD 64 (or equivalent) running at 2.0Ghz or greater
RAM: 1 GB or more
DVD ROM (Physical copy)
20 GB HD space
Video: ATI Radeon X850 256MB or greater (this is clearly wrong)
NVIDIA GeForce "6600 GT" 128MB or greater (and this one is more wrong)
(Note: IMO, the practical choices for the two video cards above should be the Radeon X800 Pro, and the Geforce 6800 GS, at least, for small textures - it will take a Radeon X1650 XT (or X1800 GTO, same thing, almost) for medium or better textures)
INTEL'S poor trash (Graphics Chip) IS NOT SUPPORTED

It makes no difference. It was dead and buried and you should not have dug it back up again.
Start your own thread -- this one is way too old and smells of decay..

I have 1.04 and the bloody game crashes randomly, if I start it back up, I can get past where it crashed. The game is using over 1.5GB RAM itself. I have 6GB of RAM on the PC but it's using far more memory than it really should be. I think the memory leaks are about the size of a fire hose.
I've had the same problem but only occured all the way at the end of the game, this was around the point where you get to the Landsmeet (first crash occured when i tried to enter Redcliffe before i went to the Dalish) When i reached the Dalish i didn't experience any problems what so ever untill i did the final battle, there i had about 7 or 8 crashes going from the gates to drakon.
It's weird though because in previous playthroughs i barely had crashes to speak off on the same machine, memory aint the problem for me either since it got 16gb to use..
When i had Vista x64 running there were quite alot of problems (version 1.03 at the time?) and ended up with about 120 saves in the end.
On Windows 7 x64 same hardware specs only upgraded my videocard/drivers i had no problems to speak off untill recently. Awakening however runs fine still, spend about 7 hours straight and no problems (exept for some bugs).
Sys specs:
Xeon 5160 x 2 @3Ghz
16GB DDR2 FB-Dimm ECC
Radeon 5870
Supermicro X7DAE (out of my head).
Pretty exotic hardware i know
