I just installed it this afternoon. So far I've crashed twice during the very opening before the quicksave and tutorial. I've made the same character 3 times already.
When it happens, it freezes for 10 seconds before exiting to the desktop where Vista says "Dragonage stopped working..." No more explanation is given.

I'm getting the same thing. I was playing fine through out the whole opening act, but right after that, I crash every 5-20 seconds. Usually when i start the game, my game is extremely laggy. I change the graphics from high to medium and then medium to high and it runs lag free. After that though, it will crash.

I, too have had many CTD's and always in a cut-scene. I tired disabling the firewall, running in SLI or not, lowering graphic settings, etc. etc. etc. I finally turned off all the online portion in the options menu so that the game isn't taking screenshots etc. and I played for 2 hours and various cut-scenes without a CTD. I've just tested it in a cut-scene by enabling online uploading, screenshots et al, and again I crashed to desktop....disabled it all and played through the cut-scene just fine.
Hope this helps!

I'm getting random crashes where my whole computer freezes up. Luckily, it seems like as long as I load Dragon Age in windowed mode, I can then play as long as I want, and can switch it back to fullscreen with no crashes. But if I load during fullscreen mode, i've got about five minutes before it freezes. Weird, and inconvenient, but not too horrible now that I've got a workaround.
Might be worth trying out.

Its crashing too quickly after load to be heat related, I left my system off for hours, tried again and it crashed within 45 seconds of play.

My crash happens just after the cut scenes arriving in Redcliff Village. Get the two cut scenes and when it goes to load...just sits there with loading on a black screen with the music playing.

I was having the same problems, I (hopefully) solved them by using nhancer to force Split Frame Rendering to be used with SLI. Up until that I was getting crashes roughly every 20 minutes, after the SFR was enabled I played for a good solid 3 hours with no problems.

Same here. CTD at different stages. Several times while just walking around, other times during movie sequences and other times while alt-tabbed.
Frustrating!

I've also had a lot of CTDs. Most have been in lothering.

I have also had tons of crashes, mostly when I get it to fights or during major loading. I cant progress becuse every time I do the fight with the darkspawn outside of lothering, my game crashed to desktop.

I have this problem as well. The game ran flawlessly last night, but since this morning it has been crashing at random. It first happened when talking to the king, then again right after I defeated the first boss (had to fight him again as a result). Now that I've reached Lothering, it happens at random, even if I'm just walking around.

Just to give some more information that might help Bioware, I seriously doubt it's computer-related. Odd thing I noticed is that on Thursday, I finally had some time set aside to play, and it ran fine for 4.5 hours straight (did Lothering/Stone Prisoner/Warden's Keep and some Camp interactions). Rebooted PC, stopped to watch a hockey game, went back to DA:O, and the game was unplayable. Every time I'd finish the Battle for Redcliffe (on Hard with every named townsperson alive...which makes this that much more painful), the game would crash during some point in the cutscene, and plenty of crashes just walking around doing the pre-quests.

Random Crashes are really ruining the game for me. It seems to happen to me during load screens

Perhaps even codecs are causing the problems, please try to reset all media files, mp3s, mpegs, etc. to play with WMP11.

same for me, random crashes around 2-3 per night. usually when one of my mages starts to cast an aoe spell or when a loading screen starts in for example denerim. i just save a lot so i never lose too much progress. still its a bit annoying. i did not see a point yet where my game froze every time like others have mentioned though. i have an nvida videocard btw a geforce GTS 250. Hope there will be a patch soon for it :-)
