Has anyone ever done this? Basically asking all of your companions who are able to just leave? If so, which companions are you forced to have with you besides Alistair and Dog?

I'm wondering if this has any serious impact on gameplay besides the obvious disadvantage of being left with only a Grey Warden with a leader complex and some Mabari.

No that's pretty much the serious drawback to telling them all to leave - they aren't there >.>

I haven't tried it, but I dearly wanted to get rid of Bishop in NWN2. I couldn't figure out why that jerk kept lurking around my keep.

Actually, you can get all of them to leave. If you're very fond of fighting archdemons by yourself. ;)

(...Except Loghain, I think.)

But then you can send loghain in to go kablooey against the archdemon, leaving your PC as the One.

If you married Leliana, you get to keep the nug as per your prenuptual agreement. Between the dog, the nug, and Alistair, you'll have quite the menagerie to keep you warm at night. It's a good thing your royal sidekick was able to borrow a tent from uncle Eamon; you two are gonna be reeeal close...

Well, don't get dog and you don't have to bother with getting rid of him (except you're a human noble...).

Nah, not get rid of him, murder knife him.  That's what I wanted.  Plus I never wanted to allow Elanee to join the party, I loathed her almost as much as Bishop.

DA:O party members are much more enjoyable, even the ones I dislike.  Plus you can pretty much kill, get rid of, or not pick up almost any of them.  So much better done here.  Image IPB

Bishop was understandable, Elanee was fine. It was Neeshka I hated, her voice was fingernails on a chalkboard. *shudders in remembered pain*

Edit: On topic, yes quite a few people do this. Most solo gamers, for a start. Unless they just go out solo and leave everyone standing around the campfire, lol.
