I read in the ME Wiki that if your imported Shepard had a love interest in the first game, if you start a romance in ME 2 it will have negative consequences in ME 3. My Shepard was with Kaidan and I'm not sure whether to stick with Kaidan or choose a new guy (Jacob does seem like an interesting character).

What would you guys do?

Well I'm going with Liara all the way through the first time around.

Why would there be neg consequences?

For my male shep I'm probably gonna stick with Liara on my first save. Then on my Ashley save I'll probably cheat on her with Miranda or Tali if she is an option.

I believe that they were saying that if you had a LI in ME1 and in ME2 the LI from ME1 will confront you in ME3, maybe you'll get the chance to kill them if you want... this last bit is just an idea I have for my very renegade character

If you like one of the new LIs more than your old one I would just go for it. I doubt the consequences will be incredibly serious since I don't think they would want to punish the player too harshly when the choices for LIs in ME 1 were meager compared to what we'll be getting in ME 2.

Yeah, it wouldn't really be fair to punish you too badly.

They give you a couple of lame female choices in the first game. Then some slightly better ones in ME2... and if Tali's available now... or in ME3... I'm going for her...

It would have been nice to know from the start though... basically, once ME3 is out, and all the info is known, we'll have to start a new game from ME1 to stay "faithful". :P

Unless Tali is a LI in ME2, I'll stick with Liara first time through.

Yeah... I recently got a new "perfect game" going. I went with Liara.

She's boring, but at least not a bigot like Ashley.

But if Tali is available, Liara can jump out an airlock for all I care. :P

Or you could always make a new playthrough and nuke Kaidan...or just not romance anyone. But I'd go with Nuking just to be safe. =/

I cannot imagine ME 3 would be so harsh as to make you totally lose your first option. It would have to give you a choice or it basically screws you into starting all the way from ME 1...which would suck.

With my personal "canon" Shepard, I am planning to stay with Kaiden, as she's not the type to run around. However, I have been in the process of creating some characters with no attachments, just to be free for ME2.

I'm going to stick with Liara. I may make a second shep that has no ME1 LI so the ME2 LI's are up for grabs, if I have the extra time.

I'm going for the guy I wanted in the first place (Garrus) if he's available, or Thane, regardless of my love interest in ME1 since Kaidan = sweet but plain and Liara = boring.

Is it just me or do 90% of players hate Ashley? My "cannon" shep will probably stick with her, but during my 2nd playthrough I am hoping for a Samara-Tali-Miranda love triangle.

Luckily, we get to play gatekeeper as to which save gets imported from game to game. So play through ME2 multiple times and see which outcome you like best.

Lol, there better not be any significant negative effects. Its not like you are engaged to anyone in ME1. It is a great big galaxy. I'm sure the gals or guy from ME1 will get a new sweetie if we find someone we like better in ME2.

That, and the fact that after Shepards death, you have been separated for 2 years. They may have moved on themselves.

hey, if it turns out you have a more meaningful relationship with jacob or miranda in me2 than you did with any of the LIs in me1, will you stay with your me1 person out of loyalty? because in the long run that's the worser of the two roads by far

Well, in ME1, you're in one of those "we might all die tomorrow, so let's make love tonight" moments.

In ME2... you're going into a suicide mission... so, it's the same deal.

Seems to be less about relationships, and more about getting what sex we can before we die. :P

I have one fem Shep with no LI, and two who romanced Kaidan. The single girl will pick whomever is the most interesting, one of the taken girls will cheat with someone(s), and the other taken girl will be loyal.

I stick with Ash...she is Human and she can kick some serious butt.

Tali is a good second choice.

Until I can have Tali... I go with Liara.

After all, children are as close as we get to immortality... and having Liara pop out a kid or two means they'd live for a thousand years. :)
