I dont know if this have been asked but I obviously didnt find it, so i just wan to know what people think of sex scenes in video games. this is what i think.

last time bioware did a sex scene fox news came with some drama when they admit they didnt even play the game, fox can jump off a bridge for all i care, obviously people who are like"professional parents that care for their kids"  or professional people who never really got around video games in their youth tend to make it a big drama they prefer heads blowing off with full of blood rather than just some romantic alien/human sex scene,(ofcourse not showing penetration cause some people might die or something but showing the couple kissing under a blanket is enough, its adds some spice to the game just like watching a movie) or anything i think shepard deserve such a relaxing moment after kicking ass and saving the whole galaxy.

be honest what do u think?

I honestly couldn't really care less about sex in games. If a person is not mature enough for sex, then they shouldn't be let near the game in the first place. If parents whine about how their kids were playing a game with sex/nudity/whatever when they were the ones who bought them to game, it's their fault. But, you know human nature, they'll blame it on the makers of the product. I have to be angry at people that vilify video games for these reasons. As the OP said, it's just like watching a movie. Movies are allowed to have sex (usually rated R, I don't think I've seen a movie rated otherwise with sex in it) so why can't games with the equivalent rating have sex? I think it all ties back to some people demonizing what they aren't familiar with/ don't understand.

(EDIT: Okay people, really, please learn to read thick, dripping sarcasm. Do you really think a mother would make an account on here to complain, in context, about her son 'bangin' blue aliens'?)

SEX IS POISONING OUR YOUTH.

I bought my 11 year old son mass effect for his birthday, and then bam, he's bangin' blue aliens! They 'ought to rename the game "Blue Alien Breasts"! I am very disappointed and disgusted with this... Bioware company and their sick perversions!

What do you mean, ESRB?!

It's sex. It's part of life.

As long as it's not the sole focus... it's fine.

I mean... it's not like they'd be stupid about it, and make having sex with someone count as a "relationship"...

Oh wait... they did that in Dragon Age...

Basically, you can have games like Baldur's Gate, where you actually build a relationship...

Or like Dragon Age, where it's a matter of getting in someone's pants...

But for me... I'm fine with anything, as long as they're not being stupid about it.

I don't like it because it's never done well. It never aspires to be more than "action movie subplot" sex, which is essentially a throw-in used primarily as an excuse to show some cleavage in the trailer.

It's never well written, always shallow, often reprehensibly misogynistic (Bioware is generally innocent of this particular charge, but it's prevalent enough outside of their work to deserve mention), and, if animated, cringe-inducingly awkward.

I have to quote this. Don't you just love it how people put the blame on everything other than themselves?

Awkward as hell to watch.

Seriously, the sex scenes in Dragon Age is worse than watching a "Love will save us all" scene in Kingdom Hearts.

Barely bearable alone, completely embarassing if anyone happens to walk in the room.

As long as it's not a mandatory part of the game. People can do it if the way, skip it if they don't. *shrug*

I have no problem with sex in video games. I think wiping out civilians in an airport is a lot worse, than basically Cinemax sex.

The problem is with the distributors and their parent companies are the problem not the developers. They won't sell a game that has sex or full nudity because it hurts their Public Relations image.

When people were making their own games back in the day on the Atari 2600. There was a lot of sex games created then. They disappeared once the big developers took over.

If it's tastefully done and good for the story I think it can be a good thing. I view it the same as a movie. Like I said in another thread, it's pretty funny that killing hordes of people is considered just fine, but one sex scene is offensive to alot of people.

As for Fox news, their just like every other cable news channel. It's all about 'gotcha' news stories that have little or no substance. It's just there to get people shocked and scared. Unfortunately I think it's less about right or left ideology and more about money and ratings. Most people don't have time to explore complex issues, it's just easier to make it really simple and in neon letters. Then again I'm the sort of person who's easily offended by people who are offended easily ; )

...end rant

haha right? why would she buy mass effect for her son knowing he is 11 and the game is M for mature? thats just stupid, if i bought the game for my kid i need to know the consequences for doing so, even if i bought it for him just so he can enjoy the cutscenes or w/e, its still my problem, but sex is sex and if he doesnt see it in the game he will see it at school with friends or at a movie one day I am not present, this is a  new generation, some people need to understand that and move on, when actually i would sit beside him ( i dont have a son yet but if i did i would play together or watch the game together, yes i will be a lovely caring dad lol)

To everyone their own. Personally the whole sex thing isn't a make or break for me. I wouldn't buy DOA : Volleyball for textured 3D models and i won't stop playing Dragon Age for being sexually suggestive. It's always the non-gamers who make a big deal while every one else watches and ponders how people can be so completely ignorant.

I think the real question is what do we think about Video games in sex. You might get away with something kinky like Pong, or simple like Pac-man, but if you try to get your girlfriend to go along with a full on Super Mario moment with mushrooms, fire throwing, racoon tails, and spiked turtle shells...well you should marry that girl.

It's a natural part of life... I don't see why it can't be in video games especially if they are aiming to be realistic.

Sex should NEVER be an issue, unless in cases of rape, harassment etc. However sex is not an issue, the issue is that conservative, religious idiots who are insecure with them selves, crave power and fear death make issues out of irrelivancies.

Sex is a part of life that everyone participates in and bioware has delivered it in a tastful way that allows it to be looked upon more as art and an emotional exchange than some scummy cheap thrill.

Fox News along with the rest of the worlds sellouts and bigots can suck my D***!

Eh I can take it or leave it. It's not a huge factor with me. I haven't seen a game do it well yet. ME1 and Dragon Age did it kinda corny and clumsy. And the lead-in dialogue to it was always hambone. And I'd rather not actually see anything too graphic. It doesn't do much for me. The last thing I want in my games is a little slice of porno.

But If BioWare can clean up the dialogue to make it a little more serious and not make the scenes look like the characters are clumsy teenage virgins, it'd be fine with me.
