I think it says something positive for the gaming industry that devs can put somthing like sex in a game and not be overly owned for it, it lets them be creative and more mature overall with there writing. And its nice to see that we've come so far that writers really do have complete freedom now.

okay let me get this straight: we're talking about a thirty to forty hour game chocked full of violence, blood, and language and your top concern is a ten second sex scene?

SEX IS POISONING OUR YOUTH.
ITS ALSO CREATING IT!!!!!
Anyway, I don't really care about sex in video games. If it shows happy people doing what happy people like to do and it has the appropriate rating - fine by me. But I think this may also be a cultural thing. I remember when the Watchmen movie was just out and it came out in the US before it came out here (Netherlands). Every other US review was going on about the pointless male nudity and how that was too graphic and they could've done without that. When the Dutch reviews came out, I swear I didn't read one word about nudity and sex, but a lot of criticism (and praise, btw, but that's how reviews are) on the extremely graphic violence.
This attitude may also have something to do with the fact that prostitutes literally line the street I cycle through to get to the market every Saturday. I'm just desensitized
Handheld thinks if you think thats funny you should have seen the reaction Handheld recieved when he yelled it out during a meeting of about 150 or so people discussing sex in video games specifically the grand theft auto "hot coffee" incident.
Handheld will explain how it was said and the reaction.
Preaching man against sex in video games: Now i dont get why video games feel the need to include sex in there games why must they depict this in a virtual world where it has no real meaning and only serves to make our poison our youths mind.......(Handheld cut him off here)
Handheld himself: Sir you do realize that when mommies and daddies have sex somtimes a baby flies out.
(everyone laughed at this and applauded)
Preaching man: Excuse me of course i realize this what i dont understand is why they are putting it into games that are marketed towards children?
Handheld himself: Well you see here video games dont market there games to children they market there games to everyone and last time i checked the ESRB has ratings so parents can help choose which games they want there children to play.
(they also clapped at this apparently most of the people in this meeting were old school gamers)
Preaching man:Then explain to me why is it that my child has been playing this horrible game which has been found to have sexual content which you can control?
Handheld himself: Ok first off th developers had already admitted to the mistake and they figured it was removed from the game which they were caught on and the game was rerated by the ESRB.
And secondly I Know your son and i was there the day you bought it for his birthday at gamestop!
Preaching man:.........................
Handheld himself: This congregation is over Preaching man has been found an idiot and i shall take my leave.
(shortly afterwards everyone else left.)
Ahhh Handheld loves ignorant parents who try to blame there faults on someone else.

This is a controversial topic. I posted something on this subject in forum my husband and I own (http://nilteran.com/...17149#post17149). I honestly do feel that people just need to view things with an open mind. I always have to educate myself over whatever hobbies my kids get into. Times are changing and so are the youth. I think before we judge and condemn, we need to understand first.

I dont know if this have been asked but I obviously didnt find it, so i just wan to know what people think of sex scenes in video games. this is what i think.
last time bioware did a sex scene fox news came with some drama when they admit they didnt even play the game, fox can jump off a bridge for all i care, obviously people who are like"professional parents that care for their kids" or professional people who never really got around video games in their youth tend to make it a big drama they prefer heads blowing off with full of blood rather than just some romantic alien/human sex scene,(ofcourse not showing penetration cause some people might die or something but showing the couple kissing under a blanket is enough, its adds some spice to the game just like watching a movie) or anything i think shepard deserve such a relaxing moment after kicking ass and saving the whole galaxy.
be honest what do u think?
I think they should be done in good taste!
Mass Effect 1 handled the sex scenes very well IMO, Dragon Age, not so much.
If there is to be nudity, it should be top only. There is zero reason to see some guys junk getting hard or swinging in the wind for a sex scene and if any dev ever went that way, the game would deservingly be A/O and not sold in the more common retailers like Walmart and storefront EBGames.
I just dont see the need for hardcore porn sex sceens. Topless and a nice pair of thongs on the woman and boxers on the guy does the trick far as immersion is concerned, anything else is just gratudious and not needed.
I currently run the natural bodies mod on my DA:O game and thats full nudity and its simply to much and not needed. When a cutscreen does play the film never shows the lower areas (from a frontal veiw anyways) so all you see is a bare butt and breasts and its PERFECT as a love sceen.
As I said, I also like the Mass Effect 1 love sceens where great camera angles removed obvious nudity but the sceens looked legit.
If a game came out where we actually saw penetration and such, id probably not buy it truth be told. I dont watch porn normally and wouldnt care for it in my games. Thats to much. More is not always better.
Im a firm (heheh pun) beleiver that these 17 and 18+ ADULT games should have nudity when it fits and works for the sceen but common sense and self restraint is definately needed in the design. Nudity just for the sake of having nudity, thats not needed.
IE: When I enter a stripclub in real life or a game, I expect to see WOMEN (not men unless its that type of club of course) in various levels of undress but what I dont want to see is some chick sitting spread legs on the floor (Same goes for some guy with junk hanging out).
When I enter a dance club (Like Flux in ME1), there should be hot scanty dressed waitresses but no nudity!
Nudity, like everything else, has a time and place, otherwise its just porn

I agree. If they put in sex, it should have a purpose. I'm all for developers having the freedom to do that. But gratuitous sex and nudity that don't help the game or story? Yeah, no thanks. I'll keep gaming and, shall we say, other entertainment separate.Kalfear wrote...

Fairly generally, I think the Bioware tendency to include "romance" and sex is just a cynical tool to hook the immature teenage demographic. Their treatment of romantic relationships devalues and degrades attitudes towards relationships in real life, and can only be a negative influence on young people.
Having said that, it is pretty easy to avoid the romance in Bioware games. I always just tell the romantic interest characters to shut the **** up when the start flirting and all is well. So I don't mind too much.
