I apologize if this is a duplicate topic.

Like my title asks will ME2 soundtrack be available as download only? Or are there plans
to actually release it on cd as well? I might be in the minority but I
do not digitally download music, nor do I have a cd burner on my
computer to burn purchased MP3s too.  When it comes to music I listen
to I prefer to buy it on cd.

I looked online and all of the articles I found pertaining to the ME2 soundtrack where all for digital download only.  Didn't find any mentioning plans to release it on cd.
Please no comments  along the lines of why don't you just buy a cd burner
becuase they are inexpensive  and download it digitally? Or why don't you buy an mp3 player and the like.   Like I said
previously prefer to buy my music on cd and also I don't have any desire for an mp3 player.

I'm in the same boat. I much prefer to buy hard copies of music. Thus, I haven't purchased the ME2 soundtrack, or the Dragon Age soundtrack. Both would be an instant-buy for me if they were released on CD.

its really good, 2 cd's and worth it.Get it and pick up an ipod/zune/whateva. Physical CD's are a waste of resources and just adds another set of hands to pay out from the artists that create the product...

Edited my OP. I don't have any desire to own and ipod, zune and the like. The only time I listen to music is in my car on cd when I am driving to work or driving around..

So why not plug your ipod into your car? A new radio is only like 100 bucks and can be put into pretty much any car and thus any car can have an ipod plugged into it (and by ipod, i am biased, as i think apple makes the best mp3 players (thats it, not computers)).

But wow... how do you not possess a CD burner? All computers come standard with a CD/DVD/Burner +-R/RW and have come that way with CD burner for ever.

MP3 is lossy compression, that's why we want a physical copy. Some of us *can* hear the difference, particularly when using quality equipment.

Given that the ME1 soundtrack is still available, the company might be irritated that they have not sold them all.

If that's the problem, then let us pre-order the hypothetical ME2 soundtrack. Once the pre-orders reach a certain threshold, make everyone pay their pre-order in full. Print and ship that one manufacturing run, then close it down.

There are precedents for low print run soundtracks. Predator (the film) is a great example of this, only 3000 copies of the official soundtrack were made and shipped. Regrettably it happened years after the fact rather than during the original theatre run of the movie, but better than nothing.

(the other versions you might find are all bootlegs, only this one was authentic).

Meh... requests for a physical CD are going to fall on deaf ears. This is too niche of a segment for which to make a greater effort. For the sake of reference, here's a link to the only official answer we've seen:

http://meforums.biow...ight=soundtrack

"Chris Priestly: Sorry, there are no physical copies planned. It is digital only."

From one of the reviews on Amazon, looks like the ME2 soundtrack wasn't even mastered with care as there is clipping in some of the recordings. Bleh.

I appreciate all the responses and the link to the original forum answering my question.

Not really requesting that they release it on cd if they do great, if they don't I am not going to lose any sleep over it.

This saves me from making my own thread, I guess.

Annoying though, especially since it doesn't seem to be available in flac, only mp3. If I'm going to be forced to buy a download version, it should at the very least be equal to CD quality. I can always convert it to mp3 myself if I need to save space for my portable player.

Heck, if Bear McCreary can get a physical CD version of the Dark Void soundtrack made, Bioware and Jack Wall should be able to push a version of the ME2 soundtrack.
