I wouldn't be surprised if some industrious programmer created a tool that allows you to customize the state of the game at the beginning - maybe through a mod, or maybe through manipulation of a ME1 save.
Or... you could just play through ME 1 and make the choices you want to carry over into ME2. No reason not to, as ME1 is a great game on its own already.

Yeah, but I kinda hate replaying ME 1 now. The game just doesn't work too well with Windows 7 and it is hard to go back to play older games lol. I really hope they use a KotOR 2 system. Really.

This ain't old to me, why did Bioware get ride fo the question thing? and its kinda odd that the renegade choice is the default with the council. Has any one got a link confirming this change?
that's a misconception... the renegade choice is if you choose the "let them die" option... the council can also die on a neutral "focus on soverign" choice...
and i don't know if i read this correctly but is someone saying they will default the class to Soldier? I highly doubt that! with an influx of NEW Mass Effect players that never got into ME1, it would be absolutly dumb to make the other classes open to only those who played the first game...

This is untrue. You are not asked questions about the rachni and other stuff. Miranda asks you only two questions. Those two questions do not involve a choice about what your past is. Miranda describes an event and proceeds to ask why you did that. If you start a new Shepard, you can't choose what decisions you made in ME1. The only things you get to choose are your class, where you were born (earthborn, etc) and what your background is (war hero, etc).DanPman0317 wrote...
That is not the canon, it is simply them choosing from a bag what they want the MAJOR choices to be before the game starts.
After you start a new character in ME2, you are asked questions in the game to flesh out your Shepard, about the rachni, love interest and other stuff.
The videos are out there people. See for yourself.

We've already seen and know what the MAIN FACTORS are that will effect the game (not all, of course, but the largest ones) so just keep those in consideration and do your quickest speed run possible, getting all the basic choices you wanted down and then import the new game.
You can finish the game ridiculously fast if you ignore the sidequests and skip dialogue.

Right off the bat, the Council is dead and humanity is in charge. That's fixed, no way around it. You do, however, get to pick whether Udina or Anderson is in charge, if I remember correctly. If you're male, Kaiden is dead. If you're female, Ashely is dead.
You get to pick your class. Soldier is not automatically chosen for you, unless you pick to play the quick-start Shepard. It was like that in ME1, though.

OH NO BIOWARE LIED! BASTARDS.Slimcharles wrote...
There are no options to choose what you have done in ME1 if you don't have a save game.
Kaiden is dead by default and you did not save the council.
That's right, Bioware lied.
Owait, I actually have 6 saves ready, I don't give a crap.

It's a combination of things: whether you saved the council, ashely or kaidan, etc, that's all determined by the game. You get to choose your background, just like in ME1 AND you have the quiz to fill in a couple of extra details.
There is no Quiz! It isn't in the game Miranda and Jacob ask you about two things, one is dependant on male or female. Spoilers: Why you left Kaiden/Ashley to die on Virmire. And about you're chosen backgrounds, that is All.
So please can you stop making stuff up, my cousin's got the game!
