You start off with a higher level (ie more experience) and extra resources that can't be gotten otherwise...I fail to see how that isn't a bonus

I don't get it isn't that what they said, you get bonus EXPERIENCE points for having a high level import?

Haha wow....you all are complaining over this?!

Seriously guys, ever heard of the saying "be grateful?"

I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but all of us who reached level 60 are getting a bonus...something extra that people who didn't reach 60 or didn't play ME1 will not get at the start of the game.

Also...if you played the game right and tried to beat everything in the game for your first playthrough, then you know, reaching level 60 in the second wasn't that hard...

so I don't know why people are complaining.

A level boost at the start sounds very useful if you decide to try Insanity with a new character.

Your rant is irrational. Get over yourself.

Level 30=level 30 regardless of what level you started at. So it is irrational to claim that starting at level 5 is a permanent bonus. Please take a class in logic. Thanks. Posted Image

Being able to always start out with more experience in any given playthrough is a permanent bonus. Please take your own advice. Thanks.

how is it permanent when two 30 level characters, one imported from a level 60 ME1 character and the other started fresh from ME2 will have the exact same stats ? learn to think, kid.

One took less time to get there, thereby minimizing his loss and maximizing his gain?

?

It will be interesting to see if this is true...but, I'll reserve judgment till I am playing the game on Tuesday and see it for myself. Thanks.

Why the whining?  How many games have you played where the decisions that you made in the first affect the second?  Be thankful that your decisions are affecting ME2 and that you are getting anything for getting level 60.  A couple levels sounds like a fair bonus to me.  Or did people want something they could brag to their buddies about?  We all know that leaving the casual player out is a great business model.Posted Image

Start at Level 5

8 Squad points

Paragon filled 10%

Credits: 150k

Palladium: 10k

Iridium: 10k

Platinum: 10k

Element Zero: 10k

Above seems to be the starting stats for a level 60 import. This was pretty stupid on their part as it seems with an import, it's pretty easy to hit the cap as seen by the Gamestop reviewer. I feel like an idiot for wasting my time doing another playthrough for increasing my character by just one level. This was pretty obviously misleading but it seems Bioware has become a pro at that recently. Oh and Guaritor that is just minimizing as the gain is still the same.

Never saw a Dev indicate anything about bonus points. They also played down how much of a "bonus" having a LVL 60 character would be to the start of the game.

Any information on starting benefits of doing UNC collection quests?

Does it really take more than 1 NewGame+ play through on ME1 to get to Lvl 60? I have 4 different playthrough's right now and I've never had a problem getting them to Lvl 50 on first and Lvl 60 on NewGame+, even before BDtS and PS DLC was released.

It seems fair to me. A permanent bonus to your Shepard might cause problems carrying over to ME3. You start out at a higher level but others will catch up to you eventually. You'll always have more minerals/credits than they will though.

I'm bringing in 4 lvl 60s and don't have any regrets about it.

This is perhaps premature though obviously we now have enough people who have the game voicing some concerns over some points. However I would say that to a large extent this can be excused as its the first time BW has done a sequel where in between the game mechanics have been so drastically changed as to almost be a completely different game yet still has the same character from the prior game. I would suggest that it be listed as an area of improvement to be looked at for ME3 so that it is handled better so put it down on your suggestion lists for when we can post our suggestions for ME3.

I made it to lvl 60 with 2 guys, don't ask why. lol anyways I wasn't expecting a huge advancement. i actually think 4 or 5 is fair, i just love me1 lol. What were you guys expecting? start out at lvl 10 or 15!? with a 30 lvl cap! come on be reasonable and enjoy the game! :D

Quote: CaseyH-ME2: For Guest-15 - We have a similar power progression
system as ME1, but the powers are significantly upgraded to make each
class really powerful and more unique in combat. That means that there
is no direct conversion from ME1, but we did want to make sure your
hard work in developing your ME1 character is rewarded. So, you'll get
more points to apply to your starting character if you were a level 40,
50, or 60 character.

^It apparently meant that they just boost your starting level.  There is also the stuff that Norman posted as well.  Again I see no reason why they couldn't just mention your starting level is higher and that's all.

Level 60 was easy to get. Mass Effect 1 came out 2 years ago - more than enough time to get to level 60. I had fun playing through level 60 you cry babies. Plus, I got an achievement.

I'll take my level 4/5 starting character.

So it turns out there is a bonus power for import. But it might not be linked to level? Oh well.

Congratulations...?

This isn't a bonus. It’s redundant. Every dedicated player will reach level 30 from completing the side missions, and as 'dedicated player' would seem to imply, you'd do the side missions anyway, if not for the game play than for the increased odds of helping your squad survive.

The only way this is a bonus is if you’re a 'casual' player, and you didn't plan on grinding all the way to 30. As it stands now, this will only encourage people to go on the suicide missions earlier and get themselves killed.

I was just in the Direct 2 Drive chat. Second confirmation that the bonus for importing a level 60 character is not simply a matter of being more powerful - more like "little bonuses" or "skills."

Maybe they meant a slightly higher level, but I doubt that, simply because of how they've repeatedly answered this question.

It seems the higher level is ONE of the bonuses.

A level 60 character will be able to evolve a skill right off the bat. How is this not a bonus? I'm just highly confused. I just finished grinding my 60 last night, and I think this is a fine bonus. =o

It doesn't use bonus points because that would destroy the level balance. With the new level system, this is the better choice. I'd like to see an option to not import a level bonus, but what're you gonna do? ( I like starting RPG's more or less naked)

My question is though, IS THIS WHAT YOU SHOULD DO.

Is it better in Mass 1 to focus completely on 1 power early in the game. Or is it better to at least unlock everything you have, so you can at least pick different powers depending on the situation?
