What quite a few people don't seem to realize is that good hair is hard to make. Especially customizable hair. I think a few new styles would be nice, but there are bigger issues.
Why does BioWare continually neglect hairstyles?

TC is completely correct. I've been wanting a high top fade on Shepherd and I think I deserve one!!!!

I want my Shep to have blonde dreds and a purple mohawk at the same time. Do it, Bioware. DO IT.
...Done yet? No? Sigh. I guess Mass Effect 3 is a no-buy, then.

Difficult to create nice hairstyles in UE3? Definitely, Impossible? No
Well, I for one simply will not rest until Grunt and Zaeed can have this hairstyle.

male shep needs more/better hair styles, there are about 3 I would call good and it's annoying to have only three options between different sheps. (they're the crew cut/bald the puffy combed back and the greasy/wet looking comb-forward) it would be nice to have some more hair to choose from, fringes or at least fix that one that spikes up at the front so it doesn't make shep look like he has a flat head O_o

Maybe they think no one cares what hairstyle their shep has? But the fact that they have styles at all means some players will care. I can see why fsheps are short or pulled back styles sense that is strictly military in nature but when 2 came out I was hoping for different styles and cuts for her at least 2 more but it was all repeats the whole jerry curl hair do should be replaced with something else I’m unsure how many people actually put that one on their sheps. They don’t need to go psycho in 3 for styles but at least add 3 more types for both sheps, a better blonde, and a nice white not 100% shocking white I’d like to make an albino for real that doesn’t look like she died. Also speaking of dieing the skin tone albino white needs fixed she looks too dead put a little peach into it so she looks like she has some blood flowing through her.

I really don't understand why they didn't improve the character creator for ME2. I mean they improved almost everything else. Why was this neglected?
BioWare, you even made new hairstyles for ME2. Why didn't you make those available to us? Do you know how totally heartbreaking it is seeing random NPCs walking around with hairstyles you don't, and can't, have? Better hairstyles?

I just want Dude Hawke to have a ponytail damnit.
And the military excuse doesn't fly anymore BW. Shep's not military anymore.

I honestly do not think hair style is a 'make of break feature' sure it adds to the realism but i am not going to think any less of it because the hair looks alittle off

I am going to point out that Shep is in the military. Now, assuming that Alliance protocol (key word "assuming") is based off of US protocol, they did loosen the the restrictions with facial hair and a couple of the female styles, but overall, both genders look very sharp. Sorry, but an officer isn't going to look like a hippy and command respect.
Also, Dragon Age shows that Bioware doesn't "drop the ball" on hairstyles.

It does, Shep was in the military for a while, and that stuff just doesn't go away overnight. Most of the people that I know that have retired, gotten out, or even been kicked out have still kept a very clean look.

Heh...
OP nerd rage aside, I agree. My Shep's are all bald/buzzed cause I hate all of my hair options...
Well except the flat top. But that's only for my Tyrone-esque type Renegades.

I think Bioware knows that we want more hair styles. Different hair styles are one most important feature what can make our characters look different.

People in the military tend to stick to their military upbringing.
My stepgrandfather was only in the military for a good 6 months many decades ago, and he still keeps a very short cut.
My stepfather was in the army and later the army reserve for many decades of his life and to this day he keeps his hair cut very short.
I on the other hand have never been in the military, but my ancestors on my father's side were Rajput and Sikh royalty and warriors on the battlefield that defended India from its many MANY invaders.
In their honor(and as a Prince myself), I grew my hair long. 5 years ago, my hair was short as hell. Today, it flows pretty far down my back.
My father, also a descendant of royalty(and thus royal himself) once had hair that reached down to his hip. Many years ago, around my age, his friends came up with the cruel joke to cut his long hair off, which to a Sikh, is equivalent to destroying the Cross or Star of David.
My father never grew his hair out that long after that. But these days, he's growing his hair out as long as he can so he can donate it to folks who had chemotherapy.
My point? There are reasons for anyone and everyone to have short and/or long hair.
But those in the military? They tend to stick to their military regulations, even when they are out of it.

The biggest issue with hair I have is the fact that the generic NPCs get a broader range of hair styles than our Shepard's do. All of the styles that we have to use Gibbed in order to access should be obtainable from the start.

I like kelly's hair and I thought fshep would get it but no. They can make truly unique military applicable hair for at least fshep but they didn't try. I really want Mshep to have different hair options to but like guys and their wardrobes there is only so many styles they'll accept so I might be out of luck there.

People saying "but Shepard is in the military" is my pet peeve.
There is no reason Donnelly's hairstyle shouldn't be available for male Shepard, it's not exceeding military regulations.
There is no reason Kelly's hairstyle shouldn't be available for female Shepard, it's not exceeding military regulations.
I don't want an afro, for Pete's sake, I just want some good short hair choices.

Some more hairstyles would be great and more colors too according to the press sheps back in the Alliance so that does mean back to military hair approved dos but that doesn’t mean BW can’t get some new dos if you need help on what medium and short styles to add in look in a magazine they’ve got tons and pick some. Also nice mod fiery please BW look and take note of all the coolness modders can do to customize their sheps hair and clothing and how us w/ consoles can never get that!
