I don't know wheter or not Mass Effect 2 gonna create a mod or anything, cause the Unreal 3.5 is not Eclipse that created Dragon Age. All I do is hope that they can release a modder that slightly modified the character. Cause Dragon Age just did that!

my only problem with the hairstyles in the first game was how they all made the forehead look huge on girls, on ME 2 it's not as bad for some reason.

It's interesting how bioware hasn't improved their hair styles in games since NWN2, that's 4 years ago. DAO had at least a few more variaties which is an improvement, but concidering how many nice haircuts that has been released as mods I find it sad that bioware dosn't invest anything into the hairstyles in their games. And how they can't seem to make proper hair textures sometimes is a mystery.

I was hoping for a character creator equal to the DAO one in ME2, but I guess it was all wishfull thinking.

I thought this game was called "Mass Effect 2", not "Paradise of Fashion."

The hair styles were actually one of my biggest complaints in Mass Effect 1. Don't get me wrong, I love this series to death and I'd never get all pissed off about it, but something has always bothered me about them. The fact that there are a handful of styles in the game that the character is not allowed to use. Both ME1 and ME2 have done this, and both times I have wanted to use these other styles very badly. I don't know if something like this could be patched, but it would be really great if one of the developers or at least a representative could stop by this thread and give us some information. I mean really, it can't be too hard for them to allow the player to use hair styles that are already in the game.

The Unreal Engine is capable of making better hairstyles, it just isn't doing it for ME.  this was made by U3.0, the current engine

It's funny, this thread was made a month ago, and people are still talking on it.

I don't understand it. ME2 hair looks an order of magnitude better than the hairstyles in ME1.

My Shepard looks like a shaved cave man, but every other face I try just doesn't look right. I like my fugly Shepard, I'd recognize him from across the room.

With current hairstyles it's hard to create a male Shep, who doesn't look like a criminal/bully/hooligan 0_o

Male Shep needs a short ponytail, or slicked back hair - JC Denton style.

Best haircuts for saving the galaxy.

You realize he only has military type haircuts available. Might explain why there are no ponytails.

Eh just get the PC version, that's what I'm gonna do whenever I can afford an upgrade, that way I can give my femshep a good hair style instead of the ponytail or the one with the hair parted to the sides, which to me are the only good looking hair styles for female characters.

Its somewhat disappointing. They did pretty good job with many things, but for some reason they did not do anything about hairstyles.
Its not like they can not create good looking hair or the engine is not capable enough - some major NPCs do have decent hair even in ME1.
I dont buy the military type haircut either - Staff Commander Alenko or Operations Chief Williams show that you can have non-plastic hair even in Alliance.

;) it's right! But i think that BioWare want not to let us customize Shepard (as we know him)... He's an icon! I think is this simple reason, btw, i agree whit "Silent Friend"... :(

I have to agree that the hairstyles is really really boring. I mean, the ONLY person in the whole galaxy that has hair down to her shoulder seems to be Miranda. While I'll agree that femshep is a soldier and shouldent have long hair, it would be nice to atleast have the oportunity to choose it if wanted to.

I guess I'm in the minority when I say I love my Shepard's hairstyle. It's something I've had myself and since my Shep is designed to resemble me (in that creepy, what-am-I-doing-on-the-TV kind of way), it all works out. But if you wanna talk about customization problems, how about we start talking about noses? I lucked out with the one I chose for my Shep, but if I'm trying to create an entirely new character, the noses kinda ruin it. Just a tiny nitpick, nothing I'm terribly worked up over.

Default Commander Shepard is shaved and half the NPCs are aliens. But I see your point.

"The character creator is the same, exact thing from ME1! New options? No."

You have got to be kidding me!!! There is no way its the exact same!

You are dead right, the character creator in ME2 is not the same as the one in ME1.

In ME2 they took out the option to give your character scars.

I support more hair style options, definitely. even adding in the other ones seen in the game (bailey, kelly) would be a good start. while we're at it, having more sliders with the face, ala dragon age, would make me very happy as well.
