Why does BioWare continually neglect hairstyles?

It looks like FemSheps are more popular than MaleSheps. I have the idea that males are less interested in things like hair styles, but considering the popularity of FemShelp some attention to detail like hair wouldn't be too much to ask. She doesn't need extravagant hair styles, but a little more variation would be appreciated. ;)

*thread resurrection*

I hope in ME3 Shepard will have possibility of growing a nice ponytail. Those guys approve this idea:

(Shep could really use Gordon's help in defeating the Reapers)

Say so if i'm wrong but maybe it's the engine and not the laziness of the devs?

It's not engine's fault that they didn't enable some ready hair models. Or made few simple new ones like... 100% bald or short ponytail for males.

Trust me, it's not the U3 engine...

More work on the story, gameplay, and making the romances (since BW thinks they are a must have) more believable instead of being almost forced into them, and then work on the "OHHHHH SHINY" and "ohhh thats neat" bits of the game that mean little to nothing.

Yeah but.... adding few hairstyles will rather not affect whole ME3 development. I think Bioware's budget can handle this.<_<

Whole cRPG genre is not only about "big choices and visual combat". It's also about.... ya know... small cool thingies.

I'm the first person to admit that the hair choices in both Mass Effect and Dragon Age are pretty bad, but personally I'd rather Bioware made a fantastic roleplaying game with great combat, plenty of tough choices and a good storyline rather than focus on making lots of hairstyles. Also Sheperd (at least in the first game) is in the military, so Sheperd has to have a military style haircut.

On a side note, wouldn't it be awesome if RPG's had a spore style hair creation system? Ponytail there fringe that size there...it'd be great.

In Dragon Age? Bad? -_o
For me, DA:O is a perfect example of good hairstyles variety.

Then you should do what is best for the gaming world. Either blind yourself or never speak on this subject again.

Good variety in haristyles in DAO only came after player mods.

Well, the modders on the PC seem to play with NPC hairstyles just fine and bugless. Now if only BioWare had the fortitude to give us at least a few more of those options to play with on versions of the game that can't be modded...

This is my only real grief with the character creator. A hairstyle can change a lot about a person's look. And while default Shepard's buzzcut looks very nice, the one available for custom characters looks like little more than pubic hairs glued to the scalp.

@ Rzepik2,

The hairstyles in DAO are alright. There's probably only 3 male ones (short one with the sticky up bit at the front, the shortest of the longer hairs and the dreads) I'd actually choose for my PC and probably only 2 for the females (that one with all the mini ponytails and the pig tails)

Let's face it, Bioware sucks at making hair. The default ones in ME1 were bad, ME2 is barely better and DAO was also pretty shocking, without mods.

The fact that there was no mohawk for females OR males by default is cause for RAGE. Screw military norm.

I DO wish we had the sexychick and cyberbabe hairstyles available without having to modify character files.

I wish they'd have longer hair choices for men as well.

I'm a man, but I've got long hair going all down my back.

Shepard needs a Rock n' Roll hairdo, Bioware!!!

To the OP, unless you yourself are a developer, then don't accuse BW of laziness.

The current hairstyles are fine, they fit the whole military look.  If you have looked through a yearbook of the Naval Academy, you would notice one thing:  the less hair, the better.

Certain hair types aren't that bad looking, mainly on male Shepard. Most, if not all of the female hair looks terrible though.

That's because 90% of the MaleShep hairstyles are close cropped or bald. FemSheps actually have hair save for the shaved head.

Male hairstyles aren't  looking bad 'cause there is almost no hair on his head -_-'
You can't fight the Reapers only with weapons! You need also some ancient power of ROCK!

Maybe the devs just don't care abt hair themselves. They just go get a completely bland run of the mill haircut every month.
