I know that is Mass Effect 2 you can play as your character from Mass Effect 1. I bought the first one through Steam, but I was wondering if something will go wrong if I buy a regular retail version of Mass Effect 2, since they will be in sperate folders on my computer. I assume that it will, but I thought that I should ask before my copy of Mass Effect 2 comes. Oh and just in case this has already been answered I am sorry.

The only thing that matters is the save files, which are stored in the documents folder, no matter if it's a steam game or a retail game. Don't worry about it, it'll work out fine.

Exactly this, all save games on PC are in subfolder of "Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect".
