I'm a little confused. Can I actually take my 50th level character and run him/her through ME1 a second time? How do I do that?

start a new game and when it tells you to confirm your identity - there's a button at the bottom which says - choose character or something like that.

itll show you characters that you previously beat the game with.

btw - what about paragon / renegade skills?

I was told not to spend a single talent point on them.

At the end - when I reach lvl 60 on my second playthrough - will I have full paragon and renegade?

If I'm not mistaken those points dont carry over from your first to your second playthrough.

So in my last playthrough of ME1 to carry over to ME2 - should I THEN spend points into either one?

As for Paragon/renegade talent points you get free ones when you become a spectre and as you fill the respective alignment bars, I think without spending a point it takes three runs to max it out.

For the bonus talent unlocks, the "easiest" method, though it's long and boring, is to pick one of the pure classes e.g. engineer.

Then do Eden prime without spending any skill points, you should hit lvl 5ish or higher, create a save(save1) then spend point to unlock abilities, create a new save(save2) and find a terminal, then just use the powers against the terminal, either wait for cooldown or reload save2, repeat untill the achievement pops up. Then use save1 and spend the points to unlock other abilities repeat the cycle above.

saying that i did manage to get the shotgun achievement on my second run using my infiltrator who wasn't trained, using a spectre X, and frictionless materials so i didn't have to worry about heat build up.
