One thing that I kind of missed in DA2 was the parries and dodges we saw in Dragon Age: Origins (and SWTOR for that matter). In DA2, our characters just kind of went in swinging, and both sides would just keep waving their weapons at each other until one of them died. Maybe it's my imagination but in DA:O, I remember there being moments where my character would parry, there'd be a flash of sparks, and then the fight would continue.

I'm not saying that we need a parry button, or that these animations (including kill animations btw) need to have a practical effect on the gameplay, but it's something I would like to see return in DA:I.

Yeah, DAO's combat was way more realistic than DA2's random slashing & jumping, but based on the gameplay videos so far, there's more slashing & jumping to come in Inquisition. Which is kinda sad, but most people found DA2's combat much more entertaining so we're stuck with it. Still, there's no reason why could they not include some parry & deflect animations, at lest it would make the combat somewhat more fun.

There is actually a parry/counter attack we can see in the demo for 2handed warriors, so we may see them for other classes

Couldn`t a parry animation pop up if the opponent "misses" an attack?

These kinds of animations really do add to the feel of the combat. I hope for their return as well.

This video seems to include such animations. At around 1:20.

They're probably not going to be as noticeable in DA:I like in DA:O because of the pace of the combat. Also, did anyone hear the sword singing at 1:26?  :D

I could be wrong, but I think all the parrying and rolling shown in the vids shown so far have been player controlled not dice rolls. Which I would be rather happy with.
