Bad news, pal. we can't.
NOTE: I'd be happy to be a panicking idiot on this one, but at the moment it looks more like I've been a patient idiot so far.

Lame. Any reasoning behind this?

Jesus.
And do you know something?
I think we've been shown pretty everything about game design and Casey Hudson said that there will be only one alternate outfit for each squadmate, story relatead at that. We've seen SuZe's black vest in FFTL and Miranda's black outfit in the Launch trailer. Nothing like a hardened/powered Space Marine suit.
I took it for granted, that the squadmates will go armored in the actual game's combat. But it really seems I've been a little naive. And it's about time to start panic for us Starship Troopers adherents (I mean the book).
Aaah, as always #2 got more cheezy and cornballish to appeal to the "general audience", to earn a bigger buck... and sent the good, unique, outstanding features of #1 down the sewers in the process.

The casey Hudson bit, Im assuming your referring to where he said you can unlock outfits via personal quest?
Who says thats the only one you can unlock?
Not gonna continue the argument any further though. I truthfully dont have an argument other than Bioware wouldnt and have not revealed everything to us.
also, im at the point where i feel that if you(not you personally, but most of the complainers in general) dont like where the series is going, cancel your pre-order, and find a new game.

If Miranda's hair floats around in airless low grav, THEN I'll have a problem.

About the complainers:
It's the ME1 complainers who made BioWare ditch the elevators.
It's the ME1 complainers who made BioWare ditch the variety of weapon manufacturers.
It's the ME1 complainers who made BioWare ditch skillbased lockpicking.
And it's the complainers (or so Casey Hudson wants us to believe) who made them ditch squadmatesl armor.
We, who were generally happy with ME1, were silent at best or, just like you "don't like - don't buy"-ed the ME1 complainers. But now it's time for us to complain: BioWare what have you done to a good game?

Perfect explanation: we aren't going to visit any hazardous environments. Baddies are no longer hiding from us. They stick to the perfectrly terraformed conditions, including the Collectors, who cared to terraform their beyond Omega-4 world in advance so that our comic book suicide squad could die there comfortably.
Another perfect expanation: We, BioWare, like it this way, same as the "red veins", so... Hey, f*ck you!!! ©.

Yes, because we all know, if you have disagreements you should quit. The company you work for decides to switch to a different operating system that is notorious for being bad. By your logic, you have two options: quit; or deal with it.
In reality that is utterly retarded. Instead of people voicing their concerns in a game that they have invested so many hours into, you would rather them shut up and leave. Hate to tell you but this isn't how things are done, everyone here has the right to say whatever they wish whether it be a "complaint" or otherwise.

*haha, indeed.
And why were people complaining about the variety of weapons and armour manufacturers? I always thought that was a nice touch. It was item drops and inventory that was the problem, not the number of different manufacturers. In order to make the different manufacturers stand apart from each other and feel unique and different, Bioware would have to learn about business and making products that are unique and different so there is competition in the market. Alas, they certainly won't learn it from EA.

thats the usual explanation, sure makes them seem more idividual... but i would like seeing them in armor too though... but i guess some people, like Thane for example might not perform as good in armor, sure he wont be in game as in trailers
Also, I am pretty confident Bioware have some way for research or something to apply to your teammates so their amror shield and such will level so that arent completly worthless by the end...

This time round you're more focused on you the character not your team. Now i'm all for the ME1 experience of my equipping my squad mates and i quite enjoyed it but i haven't gotten my hands on ME2 yet to see which it better, I imagine ME3 will be the same as ME2 due to the amount of team members you assemble. But who knows. Time will tell all......
More focused on me, yet I need the my teammates in order to survive? Hmmm....

Have you not seen all the variations of the armour that Shepard can choose from? How much more time comsuming would it be to allow you to choose the look of squadmates from the bank already in place?

Which makes such people absolutely no good for space warfare (which a mission in unchartaed space beyond Omega-4 Relay is supposed to be), which makes absolutely no sense to take pains to recruit them, which absolutely ruins the story.

I'm Shepard, and I can bring my men in line. If they don't like wering combat powered armor, I'll expose them to something they won't like in the Normandy II airlock.
And anyway, Miranda and Jacob are with Cerberus, a paramilitary rogue outfit, formerly a part of the Alliance Armed Services. And Jacob is a former marine! It's kinda natural for him to wear powered armor, just like Shepard. Where are their helmets/visors?
But I forgot. Now we've got a FISHTANK! it explains everything. It's surely more important and more related to surviving a suicide SPACE mission, than some silly power suits.

They always can put a IQ=90 label on the box. But it's bad for business, I know. Scratch that.
Still with the weapons they included both "autoequip" and "override" things.

One explanation is that you are not yet friends with your squadmates. They're all there for their own reason, hence you have little to none control over what they want to wear. You really think you'll get Mirandas trust by dressing her up as you please??
That is one part of the explanation.
Regarding hazardous environment I agree with you, and hope they all get a certain kind of armor to wear in such areas. At least every squadmte gets 2 different armors.
I'll still miss dressing my Krogan up in some new badass armor I found, though. I'd prefer not to have "armor bits", and instead just having one suit alltogether. it seems much more realistic as well. As long as I may customize my sqadmate's armor in ME3 I think I'll be just fine, though:)

For those of you panicking about this think of it this way. Armor is now split up into what, six slots? You have 10 party members plus yourself, who I'm betting would require being well geared to survive the suicide mission. That's 66 pieces of armor you have to collect, equip and keep track of. So what if it's not that hard, it is long tedious work, and people complained about this in ME1 that only had seven sets of armor to worry about.
They could always progam in a button called "AUTOMANAGE"
DarthReavus wrote...
Nobody ever said it was powered armour. The codex entry on combat hardsuits calls them just that, hardsuits. A layer of kinetic padding as the main part of the armour with vital areas reinforced with ceramic plates. The heavier the armour the more ceramic plates. As far as I can recall it never mentioned anything about it being powered or made from metal. The only "power" I can think of for the armour is from the eezo core and that's to generate the kinetic barrier, not power the armour. Oh, and the Combat Exoskeleton upgrade could make it powered, but as standard the armour is not powered, it's simply a hardsuit.
Power Armor, hardsuit whatever. The fact is all of the squadmates except fraking Tali and Legion, who is basically a powered armor itself, lack it. Even old buddy Garrus forgets his helmet in Omega's alley we meet him. They don't look like SPACE MARINES, ready to fight in vacuum / lethally hazardous environmets. Which leaves nothing for them to do aboard the Normandy II.
