Now, in ME1 the squadmates had their 22nd century's armor on, that was supposed to protect them against the shockwave, heat and shrapnel of the blast. And what is supposed to protect Miranda and Jacob when they are caught in this blast??? They must be flying in scorched pieces in this picture, yet they stand there, quite intact, not even flinching, being dressed in pretty much the same *you* are dressed now in the year 2010. And dont tell me that biotic barriers do the trick, because Miranda doesn't have them. She is basically a Sentinel class and got shield (aka kinetic barriers), that don't protect from shockwave, heat or shrapnel. (where is her shield generator, I wonder... In her high heels?)
So I just can't believe in what I see on the screen => game utterly sucks.

Wow... well one thing I'll say for Bioware... only great games can bring out this kind of passion, negative and positive. I have to say, I'm almost frightened by some of the venom in here, and I'm going to reserve any comment or reaction until AFTER I have played the game. All I can say is I have an enormous amount of faith in Bioware and I'm willing to bet that most of the changes do wind up being overall improvements to simply enjoying the game until I have proof it is otherwise, and frankly I don't trust any thing anyone says in here unless you have those big blue letters under your name.
You kinda zealot, pal. Member of some underground BioWare church?
I bet BioWare is the Sovereign here, if you know what I mean.

OK, let me explain, why this game sucks. ME2 is a good game overall, I guess. But ME1 was a masterpiece. Being just good after having been a masterpiece is a setback. And being a setback = sucks. Happy now? Can your "Wow! It's kewl!!! It's hawt!!!" mind comprehend this dialectics?

I'm amazed at some of these fanboys who try to get people to leave these boards. Their whole enjoyment is tied to everyone loving the game as much and as unconditionally as they do. Everyone else is a troll and should GTFO. Being a standard Bioware brown noser is simply not enough for them, they cross the border to becoming BioRimmers.

To the actual thread; from what Ive gathered, it seems like you get a couple of default wardrobe stuff and if you want more, you look for em. But for crew members, I think their outfits are determined by what armor you get them...Makes me wonder how the heck a certain un-armored recruitable (yes people, if you know who it is, dont say it since its a spoiler) will be equipped with.

Because you don't know which game is better, what you are actually saying are that ME2 will not be a masterpiece because of the outfit of the party members, which i find pretty thin.

And I agree that the removal of party armor is upsetting, but the other improvement I've seen so far 'might' smooth that detail over.
Overall, I'm lookin' forward to ME2. :-)
Oh and Zulu, people tend to react in anger to angry people. Don't ask me why, human beings are just retarded that way.

it depends on what you're looking for in the game. ME1 was a space soldier adventure in a sci-fi universe, which was "built" from scratch by a team of people, who proved to be quite talented, judging by the result. Now BioWare fires them, or just not employs them for the work on the sequel, and the sequel isn't going to deliver the same authentic sci-fi experiense. It's more cheezy, more comicbookish. And this is now clear because of this very no squadmate armor issue. Look at the picture at the top. It's not a sci-fi. It's crap. A rocket blows up in their bare faces, and they don't give a ****. It's even sucks as a shooter. In the notorious CoD a squadmate who got a grenade gone off under his feet dies instantly in a picturesque way (only to respawn at a checkpoint 50 yard behind, but this mechanic is not intrusive of the common sense). In ME2 barely dressed squadmates can withstand several rocket blasts with no visual representation of anything like protection. This is something of a Super Mario.

So do we actually know for a fact that there are no sensible armours for hostile environments (meh about the other armours - our squadmates know best what they can fight in. If Thane finds a trenchcoat more effective than armour, so be it - there is a lot to said for agility as a defensive skill, and armour is something of an encumberance for those who are used to avoiding being hit as opposed to soaking up the damage) or is it just assumption based on limited information?
This is an assumption based on the vids, like the one the screenshot above was taken from. And it was an actual gamplay event with Christna Norman and Jesse Houston. You can see them in the right bottom corner of the picture. It was like Normandy-Galaxy Map-Mission-Combat. It showed that befor going grounside you can distribute talent points for your chosen squadmates and equip them with the weapons you like (not much choice there) there was nothing about equipping them with armor or anything like that. So I think it's safe to assume now, that while Shepard has casual outfit and combat armor, the crewmen don't have this distinction and move around the Normandy II exactly in the same attire, they are wearing in combat. How much sense does it make, BioWare?

Anyway: Zulu, remember about kinetic shields and biotic barriers. This can explain the apparent lack of heavy armour.

Have you looked at the picture? They are practically wrapped in fire, shrapnel and shockwave. Nothing can explain that, but the hardsuit / powered armor, which is not there.
