Many for me, but here are they : (some being basically what you said already)

Valve, BioWare, Blizzard (only the old part of it), Bethesda, Nadeo (gotta love their games), Westwood, Egosoft, Black Isle... many others that I don't remember now.

Existing or all time? Because if it's all time then Black Isle wins hands down. Then again it may be fairer to say Nintendo, considering their NES and SNES games were not only wonderful but integral in bringing me into the hobby.

Deciding among currently existing developers is harder. None of them stand out; including BioWare.

1. Black Isle

2. Bioware

3. CD Projeckt? (third place is rather hard to define)

I think I have to agree with Seagloom's assessment on the current status of developers though.

1. Obsidian
2. Bioware
3. Bethseda/CD Projekt (can't decide which should get third spot, which fourth)

From the past, Ion Storm and Looking Glass score very high. Overall, Obsidian and Bioware are the favourites, because they have both created not just one game that I liked, but several.

Bioware, Valve, Ninetendo (though admittedly sh*t like Wii Fit and Wii Sports Resort does bother me)

Honorable mention goes to Rocksteady, and if they keep making games like Arkham Asylum, they will be on the real list soon enough.

Indeed they do... Indeed they do.

But this is a hard one... I'd have to say:
  • Bioware
  • Bethesda
  • Lionhead (I know, I know... but Black and White 2 is what got me into gaming, I loved Black and White 1 so much I just had to follow number 2, and now here I am... not even playing RTS's anymore, but I have to give them that at least).

Lionhead are ok and Fable 2 dosent deserve all the hate it gets the ending was crap and it was easy, but it was fresh. And i have to admit i had some good times on that game.

The ending was purposly crap in some ways I think, because Fable 3 is going to be a direct sequel. Sorta like Halo 2 having a crap ending but Halo 3 had a pretty good ending.
