I don't see why not. Bioware is still following some of their stupid trends from years ago. You know this game is going to be 90% snark

sure they do but there's also a large deal of grasping at strings right now just for the sake of it and i just think it's unnecessary simplification i guess?

also it's based on very little evidence cause they haven't really said anything useful about companions. it definitely will be more funny when the game is out and we'll find out who has a dead spouse

Yeah there is. Iunno, I think most people are treating it as a guessing game where they check if they're right or not when the game comes around. Misplaced enthusiasm is always better than when people act like they're legitimately upset over something really unimportant, like Vivienne's face.

I'm mostly just dicking around with all these Solas/Thane comparisons but I'll be glad if I'm not completely wrong.

there's this weird trend since they started doing s/s romances of the most canonical or iconic love interests being straight,

Bastila in KOTOR if we count Juhani as including s/s

Dawn Star in Jade Empire

Ashley in ME1

Morrigan in DA:O

Miranda in ME2

DA2 maybe breaks this trend considering the sensible "everyone is bi" approach, but I don't know if I'd say there is any romance there that's thrust toward being more iconic. isabela maybe?

maybe ME3 breaks the trend too, depending on whether we consider ashley or liara to be the more iconic love interest there.

now Cassandra in DA:I

(obviously male love interest characters are never the most iconic because girls don't play video games/nobody plays as girls)

hmm.

maybe it is folly for me to try and catalog some romance options as more iconic than others?

after all morrigan certainly seemed to hold that role down in DAO but leliana has had stronger/more consistent presence since then

I'm also not sure which way it would go between dawn star and silk fox

regardless, I think it is something of a trend.

Yes, although it healed crooked and sometimes pokes me in the liver.

Anyway, I will let you all get back to fantasy worlds with "realistic sexualities."

I think morrigan is more iconic but they

Before they retooled their marketing to all the blood dragon stuff, she was heavily featured and used to represent the tone of the series

and she also is apart of the demon baby plot, which at the time was pretty significant

I think lelianna being carried over to other things is just a reflection of the strength of DA1 characters. They had been working it on far long than they've worked on da2 or DA:I and it shows..  if they wanted to, they could simiarily utilized Zevran.

I would say DA: 2 was a flop for 'iconic female'  because people hated isabella and merill for different reasons

No one is as prominent as Liara  cause the games haven't made efforts to make their own liara, I think

It makes me mad that fantasy games don't let you be monks.. like in skyrim  they removed it cause of 'unrealism'

but like.. come on?? A single man engaging a dragon is not a sensible thing... it is an inherently fantasy thing; the whole way of advancing through an RPG, through endless combat, where you've killed hundreds of people... unrealistic.. how does bare handed combat make this worse

Like, why does fenris need to use a sword? His whole thing just screams monk..

I think sometimes they don't know how to work D&D-like monk mechanics work, in combat systems built around armor, weapons, equipment inventories. Like they don't know how to handle the scaling and whatnot.

But if they can figure out how to make dogs or bears work as party combatants, it shouldn't be that hard.

they could expand on the premise behind dog's collar and tattoos

give a monk a bunch of talismans or amulets that have different effects
