anyway, they clarified the romance situation a bit. 

 

8 total love interests. 

2 of which are race-gated. 

One romance is apparently with neither a companion or an adviser (no point guessing at who it is), so that leaves 7 between all of them. 

 

Leliana - no.

Cullen - yes, straight. 

Josephine - yes, bi. 

Varric - unknown,

Cole - no

Iron Bull - unknown.

Sera - yes, gay

Cassandra - yes, straight

Dorian - yes, gay

Solas - unknown

Vivienne - unknown

Blackwall - unknown

 

So of the unknowns - Varric, Iron Bull, Solas, Vivienne and Blackwall - two are potential love interests. I would think at least one of these is a bisexual male, most likely solas, but could also be varric or iron bull or blackwall. 

 

of the unknowns, I think vivienne and blackwall are most likely to be non-romanceable. Partially because they seem to best fit the "some people just won't have time for your business" response laidlaw gave, and partially because  we're told that there are two race-gated love interests and Iron Bull and Varric seem like the best candidates for at least one of those.

i think blackwall is romanceable but also i can't elaborate because i had to torture someone to get that information

It makes me mad that fantasy games don't let you be monks.. like in skyrim  they removed it cause of 'unrealism'

 

but like.. come on?? A single man engaging a dragon is not a sensible thing... it is an inherently fantasy thing; the whole way of advancing through an RPG, through endless combat, where you've killed hundreds of people... unrealistic.. how does bare handed combat make this worse

 

Like, why does fenris need to use a sword? His whole thing just screams monk..

yeah monks are my favorite. when they're available

Maybe if isometric games make a comeback and studios are less overconcerned with their 3d graphics and animations looking seamless all the time.

I definitely don't get it with Skyrim

 

elder scrolls game have a perfectly fine system for implementing unarmed combat, particularly given the extra mechanics introduced in skyrim - the shouts, the more tangible perks system, etc

I'm hearing a lot of Dagna, the dwarf girl in the circle tower from the first game. She was just announced to make an appearance in DAI.

I wasn't sure why they thought she was significant enough to mention but maybe this is why?

The two I've seen mentioned the most are her and Celene. I do not think it will be either. 

 

It won't be Dagna because they won't make it a character whose presence is so contingent upon your actions in DA:O. And because Gaider hates the idea of dwarfmance. I'm sure she'll have a very minor appearance and they just mentioned her to show off the carryover aspect. 

 

I don't think it will be Celene because Celene already has a fine girlfriend, a character Gaider has invested in. I don't think he would kill said character off just so Celene can get banged by Inquisitors

This is a bit of a misconception. There is at least one character who is not a companion or an advisor whom you can flirt with. When Cameron said that there were eight romances, he was referring to eight romances within the companions and advisors.

 

So, rejoice or not as you see fit.

i would rather the grey warden character was a non human rogue..  the wardens are more interesting as being more sketchy and unconventional fighters who do not like being wardens

they keep saying they are gonna take full account of the various endings of DAO but I do not see how they think they're gonna pull that off, given the vast differences in the political situation in Ferelden that could result

 

more mass effect-style bluster about carryover. They should just stop talking about it so much, given that it was never as big a deal in the marketing and premise of dragon age as it was in mass effect

I like the idea of having martial, espionage and diplomacy advisers corresponding to martial, espionage and diplomacy paths the Inquisitor can follow, though who knows about implementation at this point.

 

Some people were hoping that Josephine would turn out to be a financial/mercantile adviser - likely longing for Morrowind, I guess - but we have Varric for that already, so it's not like those things can't be addressed.
