With bioware game, people always have the option of going "well, maybe the story was dumb and the level-design was bad and the combat was uninspired and it was technically unimpressive, but at least the characters were cool"

 

that mold's gotta break at some point, which might force them to care about the rest of the things more when they can't rely on character fandoms anymore 

 

maybe this could be that time? 

cullen is a dumb inclusion

cassandra is hot and all but I've never registered anything particularly interesting about her 

varric is neat but it's hard to see where they can go with him, exactly 

they'd better hope the unknowns impress. 

the mold was already broken with ME3 for me 

i did have like

characters i thought were alright and i didn't mind them 

but no one was great

also i think it's way too early to judge the cast of dai

NWN was kinda lame in character department

as in almost every other department

One thing that disappointed me was the lack of fan interest in the non-default Bethany/carver

I think part of it is that those faces were the ones they saw first, so it's the 'real' ones

I never see fan art or anything of the other faces..

yeah that's stupid

 

but also i never got around to making characters with dark skin because guess what, the relatives all have the same skin color, except it ends somewhere around their necks and then it transforms into default white starting from the cleavage wtf was that

 

character creator on the whole was just so bad when you tried making something that wasn't white it still makes me mad

 

also some of the armors - mostly in item DLCs i think - didn't have proper scaling textures so all the hands were set to default white skin again. a friend of mine made a fix for this but it's still incredible

 

i'm still really angry about some stuff boo hoo

i was actually really looking forward to bethany, carver and mom before da2 came out. i thought it would be an amazing idea of have your family as companions/support npcs in a game, since they're usually killed off or not present in 90% of all fiction

she kinda gives me a kahlee sanders/maya brooks vibe to me

 

like "let's make a sexy strong female character who's secretly someone's dream girl to insert in a bunch of spinoff series and books to give her some sense of heightened importance for being someone's ~vision~ when otherwise she'd have none"

 

they're just putting the icing on the cake now by making her a leading character and romancable

uhh i just got really worked up about it and i don't understand why you all are grasping at weird strings with this and i don't want to argue because i got anger issues and will probably say something rude so just nevermind this ****

i guess she didn't impress me much in the 2nd game and didn't seem very important, just some person asking questions, so it seemed like a weird leap to make her super important

 

but that's not to say i won't like her or that i'm worked up about the decision to make her a squadmate, bc you're right, u can rly say that about any of them

so why are the gray wardens and inquisitors fighting do any of you think that's a good idea or

There is the fact that the wardens had corypheus, who appears to be one of the magisters who attempted to breach the golden city, locked away without telling anyone.
I don't think that will bea factor but what I'm assuming is that they are gonna utilize the wardens cause they are familiar with players and can function as wild card

The numbers of the wardens will probably inflated to meet these puropose

I'm seriously hoping that this game turns out good. I'm not sure why but I'm optimistic this time.

I've always like how the DA team has always tried to make a conscious effort to include diverse representations of different cultures and people. Even when the plots in the past two games have never been coherent, they never neglected the need for more interesting and varied world building. I think that's really cool.

I'm most definitely cautious about Inquisition since I'm 100% sure the plot will suck again, but I think their world building will definitely get better

they're going to have a really hard time the next few months trying to gain any traction amid all the hype for the witcher 3, which continues to look gorgeous

 

EA's marketing drones will be in a tough spot trying to grab similar attention without that level of visual grandiosity to employ
