Hi All,

Does anybody know the name of the script that the Winter Wolf uses as its breath weapon, which, according to the creature properties is the Ice Mephit Breath weapon.

I cannot find this mephit ice breath weapon script anywhere.

Thanks in advance,
Lance.

Hi rjshae,

You are absolutely correct ... But, how on earth did you discover that? There is no indication I found to suggest it was that script. For instance, where did you discover that the Ice Mephit Breath uses the nw_s1_conecold script?

Are they "special" notes you have there ... or just observations that may be helpful to others (like me) :) ?

easiest and fastest would be to export the dialog.tlk as an txt file and search for the stringref of the ability, in your case "ice mephit breath". this leads to the entry number 5261. now search this string within the spells.2da and you will end up with spell id 230.

In the Toolset Guide (linked below) volume 2, p. 33 is a list of Creature Special abilities that lists the spell IDs. Just scroll down to Ice Mephit Breath. The introduction to that section explains how the info was discovered.

Hi Semper,

Yes, I can see that would be a good way to do it. I would have thought there was an easier method, like some 2da ref though. Worse case scenario, I will use this method in future. EDIT: I see this is the method the toolset guide says was used to discover it as well.

Lance.

Ah, That's good to know. I will use that as a ref from now on then.

Just for your info: I edited this file to stop the breath affecting the wolf as well. There was a acheck in a previous line that was not added back when a new line was added. I added this back so the breath weapon no longer affects the creature that uses it.

Many thanks,

Lance.

Nice catch. But I'm surprised their template doesn't provide cold immunity. They're supposed to have it, according to their SRD entry.

It might be nice if we had a NWN2 Script Patch set with fixes like this. But somebody would need to maintain it.

Hi rjshae,

It's quite possible that the effect is not harming the wolf at all, but I did not like the way its effect was "appearing" to encompass itself as it breathed. The visual effect looks better now, as the wolf does not cover itself in ice when it breathes. :) i.e. It was a visual thing as much as anything else.
