Is Lambert out of his mother loving mind? Did he forget that the Chantry controls the lyrium that keeps his Templars sane? WTF is the Lord Seeker doing taking over the Templar Order anyways? They're supposed to be separate brances.

It's not as though there is another viable lyrium source... that... oh. Red lyrium... Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.

I don't really think the Red Templars are Lambert's forces, they probably found a way to trade with the Dwarves

Still don't understand what the Lord Seeker is doing taking over the Templar Order, but perhaps that was part of that vote the Knight Commanders took a part of.

Well, they can always raid Chantry storehouses.

I don't see the Templar Order maintaining a positive public opinion if they start raiding and killing Chantry priests.

Who said they would kill the priests?

But hey, it will put them on equal footing with the apostates public opinion wise.

You need to become aware of several things rapidly.

One the Order has deep pockets independent of the Chantry.

Two it has ties to at least two desperate nations/city states's nobility.

Three it was pre annulling in charge of policing the lyrium smuggling trade, it also maintained several connections via the smuggling rings, so it has sources independent of the Chantry.

Four You aware that they were based out of White Spire? Aka the circle of Orlais, aka there is likely a large fortune's worth of Lyrium within, add in what the other fourteen Knight Commanders can bring together and its likely enough to fight this war through to its end several times over.

I assume Lambert considered that particular hurdle and wouldn't have broken from the Chantry if he hadn't already thought of a way to overcome it.

<_< I just gave four reasons why it likely isn't an issue.

Your number 1. Source?

Your number 2. Which nobility? Cass is the only one to come to mind, and she sure ain't helpin Lambert's group.

Where in the book does it say there is a fortune in lyrium in the White Spire?

Lambert is no longer a factor in any case.

I would assume that there is only enough lyrium to outfit the Towers contingent of Templars, nothing more.

1.Ser Irminric is a Knight-Lieutenant and brother of Bann Alfstanna of Waking Sea.

2.Another was mentioned being knighted in Antiva in a Codex i cannot recall.

3.Nothing confirmed but its a deep rooted speculation i have had since DAO. Do you think they were skimming the coffers in Denerim to pay for their Lyrium to be smuggled to them in Redcliffe? Same for Kirkwall? Either they were stealing or misappropriating funds from the Chantry or they had the funds already, do you think they would steal from their church? Ultimately i suppose that's the question.

There is the Lyrium to be used by Mages, the Tranquil and the Templar Order it self within the Tower. Add in the other fourteen towers and I'd assume it would be a pretty massive sum of glowing magic rock.

You think the Mages carted it out while they were fleeing?

Well, I still think most are kept in storerooms in the Chantries themselves rather than the Circles. Makes more sense that way.

Not every smuggling ring is going to trade with them (there will be a few that would be, granted), but again... that can't help public opinion if they're harassing innocent "merchants" for lyrium.

Not aware of any ties to the nobility, like someone else said, I don't see Cassandra bringing Nevarra into this fight.

Also, if the Chantry's control of the lyrium is as strangled as Alistair and Samson make you believe, I wouldn't think that there would be any in the Towers themselves. Especially not when lyrium has a tendency to do funny things to the Veil.

That would be stupid though to hold all that raw lyrium within the White Spire though. That's just asking for trouble. Heck, even being near that stuff for an extended amount of time would screw up a person. Now, I could understand if the Templars had maybe a place hidden within Orlais that housed all their lyrium.

Could be, Given those storerooms have only been mentioned once in the entire series, who knows?

No. I think it is stored within the Chantry and distributed amongst the circles as the Chantry sees fit.
