No, I am saying we probably don't know who did it.

Fiona wasn't responsible for the attempt on the Divine because she was locked up in whatever circle she lives in and the fact that Adrian had never seen or met her until the end of Asunder.

Lambert and Adrian are just the 2 most likely suspects with the limited information we have.

Possibly but i am of the mind that it was Fiona.

Really? We don't know what Jeanot was doing before he strolled in there and attempted to burn the Divine to a crisp.

If Lambert wanted her out of the way why wouldn't he simply move against the Chantry once he acquired his Army? Or in the numerous meetings they were within? If he wanted an assassin in there, no doubt he could have gotten one in place when it was merely them together, not in a ball with Templars and Soldiers on site.

The reason there were so many people there is part of it. Whoever sent the assassin wanted people to see the Divine killed by them.

If you say so, I'd say it was the only chance the mage was presented given it was one of the few times she was away from the Grand Cathedral which if by any indicator of concept art or layout is basically a mishmash of fortress and church.

We Know Jeanot was from the White Spire.

As I said read above, I just put forward the two largely supported hypothesis of the forum community.

Actually there was only one armed person at the ball-Evangeline, who as the empresses honor guard is the only person allowed to carry a weapon at the ball- who was also the only templar present.

Again, I am of the mind that neither of them is behind it.  Of course if my hypothesis that the dark power cole sensed in Lambert is a reference to the black divine or some other entity playing around with the cerebral cortex of our dear lord commander of the seekers, I might be more suspicious of Lambert's involvement.

Yes?

I am aware, i am just also pointing out Noblemen in Thedas are taught to fight, You also had a collection of Knights that arrive just shortly after the battle is concluded, obviously they were on the grounds. Point being, it wasn't an ideal assassination opportunity if you wanted to get away with it. And Lambert certainly could have arranged something better, in fact if that was his aim why wouldn't he have just run her through when they meet before the annulling of the accord?

I already said I don't think it was either of them. Just that those are the two most prevalent hyothesis from the info we have.

I actually think the assassination attempt was planned to fail from the start by the employer.

Possibly but there wouldn't be much point to that unless if they knew what was going to follow.

Aka the rebellion.

And I'd assume any one aware of what was going to happen in the following days of the attempt would be fairly well informed given even the Lord Seeker himself was unaware of what exactly the Divine was researching at Adamant.

Well, in Inquisition we are dealing with Big Bads who are manipulating things behind the scenes, so it would make sense if the assassin was serving them to start the chain of events that led to the Mage-Templar War.

Possibly, or they could have just be wanting to add one more match to the powder keg that was the circles at that time, the divine's plans would have been a bonus.

Maybe that has some tie in to the "Agents of Chaos" making everyone busy while the veil tear

Lol I didn't even know there was such a thing.  I was just being a smartass by combining wyvern and griffin.

Agreed.

Random stashed cache of equipment, random staff never mentioned prior magically gift via Warden?

It sounds just like a friendship trope to me.

Oh thank you for holding me back from my darker influences!

lolwefreindsbrah!

It's an in game item from Return to Ostagar dlc.  In the deserter quest, the warden talks to a guy in a cage who is waiting to be sentenced.  He is willing to swap some food for a key that he stole that opens the chest next to the Tranquil mage.  It can only be opened at night when the Tranquil mage is standing by Wynne.  IF the Warden keeps the key and opens the chest while playing Return to Ostagar, among all the mage equipment is The Corrupted Staff, which he can give to Wynne.

You can kill him for the key as well, if you're doing that sort of play session.

You mean you aren't required to kill the lousy deserter to complete that quest? :)
