They are triened to use magic to fight with others not my problem that magic sucks in da at least on short distance fight nor that tevinter mages are fighting melee so well....

Tell me please for once after effin number of pages. What's stopping a mage from using any spell that they use at range in melee instead?

No it seems that templars in kirkwall took mages without anti-magic

Because circle mages don't know how to fight for crap, and they STILL managed to kill some templars that were drilled like hell.

And what is stopping a mage from blocking said sword attack with telekinesis/stone skin/similar shield, or blasting the warrior faster than they land their hit?

And why would the sword be in their head before they cast it?

A strike from a Templar can shatter such defenses, this actually happened in the battle after the mage summit.

I mean, they can train themselves in conventional combat as a kind of equalizer, or use tactics to ensure that the Templars never get that close.

For example, using oils or other flammable materials to save on the usage of Mana while at the same time igniting fire from a natural source that can't be dispelled. At Kirkwall, they could have covered the stairs leading up to the Gallows in ice.

No you just blast the templar in the face with an offensive spell. What kind of defense do templars have against those?

This combined with magical brutality would be the proverbial nail in the coffin.

Templars can erect anti-magical defenses or their own for spells of this type, as we also saw in the book. How much they can take likely depends on the skill/willpower of the Templar, but it still means that an adjustment of tactics would be necessary in order to fight them in a full-scale battle.

Another crowd of scrubs is supposed to prove something? Those mages look like they haven't taken time to practice magic at all, like a newborn child trying to walk.

You know what all spells and magical abilities ( And templars do use magical abilities granted by lyrium ) have in common whether they are directed to causing magical effect or dispelling countering magical effects? Power level. You know what that means? It's a two way street, and it doesn't depend only on skill/willpower of the templar, it also depends on skill/willpower of a mage. You know what it means if a mage can't hurt a templar with their spells? It means that they suck and that they are a weak mage that can't fight for crap.

I don't care if it's 99%, if a mage doesn't train for battle then they suck at fighting naturally.
